I have a 2009 MK5 Jetta that I recently wanted to upgrade the the factory 6 disc premium VW radio to a 2din touchscreen. After the initial install the radio powered on the first time I tried to turn it on afterwards nothing. I assumed a fuse was blown at first but couldn’t find one. However this led me to try moving my accessory power wire to a different fuse. When shared in the new location I was able to have the radio power on, however when I turned the key off and removed it the car would not shut off. Back to the old location I checked with a multimeter and it is powering when supposed to but radio once again not turning on, looking at my vehicles data it is showing radio control unit 56 is not communicating. Does anyone have any input to my situation.
Side note, the factory radio works fine if I swap it back.
Thanks in advance!

Did you get this answered? If not I installed a double din in my Jetta and knew about this issue so I took the steps to get around it. Let me know if you still need help.

looking at my vehicles data it is showing radio control unit 56 is not communicating. You need to remove it from the "installation list" in the gateway so you aren't bothered by that error. You are doing all the right electrical checks. MY opinion is that the gateway was expecting communication with a head unit that is not present, so it didn't switch the +12V on the second time for the accessory line. I suggest you just use any other fused accessory +12V that you can confirm is controlled by the ignition. Your ignition barrel and steering wheel control module use a thing called a "S-Key" so it doesn't work the same like a normal car when you remove the key from the ignition (you may have to wait 10 minutes with the key out of the ignition before the car goes to sleep like a normal car). This allows you to still operate the roof lights and wind up and down the windows for 10 minutes after the key is removed from the ignition.
