Hello.
I recently ordered a few 12v ambient lights, these can be connected anywhere on the car as long as there is positive and ground wiring.
I followed the instructions of a YouTube video that had the same car as I did, here's the video:
You can forward to 2:55 to see the wires. He installed everything without a problem. I have the exact same wires, however, when I connect the wires, the door lights shut off and the ambient lights don't even get to turn on, I then need to restart the car to get them to turn on again, without the ambient lights connected.
My theory was, it's a safety system of the car, if it detects more current or something else, it deactivates that area to avoid damage.
I then took the car to my local mechanic and he confirmed the theory to be true.
So, my question is, can this system be bypassed or disabled? Perhaps in the central electrics section using VCDS/OBDEleven? I have both.
The Passat on the video seems to be a Comfortline or Trendline, mine is the Highline version, maybe it has something to do with it?
I'm really getting desperate trying to fix this, thank you in advance.

Oh, it's in German, I can't understand. But in the driver door, is he connecting the positive red wire to the gray wire, and the negative black wire to the brown wire? And my ambient lighting didn't come with that little black box that he is holding at 10:12. What is it? Do I need it?
Thanks in advance!

Maybe you can ask your questions in the reactions under his youtube, I think he will react on that.

Yeah, I asked him about the cubes and it seems like it is needed in his case, mine didn't come with them. I need to see if I need it too.
