Aloha.
Hope everyone had a nice Christmas.
Last night, my brother and I were in his eTron and went to EA at the Walmart in Rosemead, CA to top off his charge.
Etron started its charge and I scanned it with OBD Eleven. While it was charging- tried clearing the faults 1 module at a time. There were 25+ errors. Most of them were intermittent- except for 2 Drive Motor Ctrl ones that are/known to be status faults.
9 errors on Gateway alone: (never seen same faults come up as duplicates before within same module)
- Charging device for high voltage battery: no communication U113900: intermittent
- Ethernet steuergerat fur informationselektronik 1: U164500: intermittent
- Function limitation due to missing message: U111100: intermittent
- Databus error value received: U1123: intermittent
- High-voltage battery charger: sequence error during operating mode setting: C11B8F0: intermittent
- Lost Communication With Battery Charger Control Module" U019B00: intermittent
- Databus error value received: U112300: intermittent
- Lost Communication With Battery Charger Control Module: U019B00: intermittent
- Lost Communication With Battery Charger Control Module: I019B00: intermittent
In any case, while charging- I tried clearing the intermittent faults, but then all of a sudden, eTron stopped charging.
Reset the MMI, disconnected OBD Eleven, turned ignition off, unplugged charging port. Tried to plug charger back on, but kept getting System Malfunction.
Tried again- same. Then, tried OBD Eleven and tried clearing faults again, but they kept reappearing. Disconnected OBD Eleven. Turn Start on-off a few times and then, System Malfunction message went away.
Plugger EA charger in again, but got Initialization message on VC and EA charger, but could not bypass.
Re-scanned OBD Eleven again and there were new Battery Charger Module errors, but this time I was able to clear them.
Battery Charger Module
- Battery Management System: read event memory: P33EB00: intermittent
- Quick Battery Charging: Charge stn, initialization error: P33E500: intermittent
Disconnected everything and power eTron off again.
Plugged EA charger back on and this time, was successful in restarting charging sequence again.
Anyone else ever seen/heard of these types of issues while using OBD Eleven? I believe it was coincidental that this happened while scanning/clear codes, but one never knows.
