yarno: sure, why not try a dealer - the worst that they can say is "no"!! If the dealer fixes the problem, get a report and post-up your findings so the community learns- please

Hi don the dealer didn’t wanna help me because it was not factory fitted. I did find something tho, the car turns on the lights when it rains even on a bright day. So that means the two sensors are communicating with each other. (I think?) also I found this saying it isn’t coded properly.

^^^^ we have been at this for a long time- what is the current value of the long code on the sensor?

yep - looks like some of your previous pics. Are you sure that you installed the correct part number for the retrofitted sensor?

Hi don
I’m 200% positive it’s the correct sensor.
I looked all over your previous mentions on this post to find anything I looked over bud sadly didn’t find anything… Can it be changed in any other way? I think I mentioned this before but if not I’ll try to explain it again as best as I can.
Before buying the obd eleven tool I visited a “professional” programmer and he turned on the rain sensor and this worked.
I then visited him once again to turn on the light sensor because he told me he could do that. He looked in to it said he can’t. and then for some reason wend back to the rain sensor and he changed 1 value of something (that I didn’t see) and since then it isn’t working. I visited him once more because I told him he did something wrong he read my entire car send me back home telling me he wil look in to it and never did Contacted him multiple times called him but he ghosts me probably because he knows he changed something that he doesn’t know what it was or did. And can’t find it himself.
So since everything in the 09 is correct are there any other places I can look in to?
I know this is a pain in the *** so I can only thank you so much for sticking with me and helping me this far.

Yarno
Bring you car to the Audi dealer and ask then to restore your factory settings. Then you can start the LRHS coding again from scratch

dv52: Hi Don
I am actually retrofitting the Rain/Light sensors with the Auto Headlamp switch and Auto dimming mirror in my 2020 Facelift A3 Sportback. (My car has neither rain/humidity sensor nor the headlamp switch with Auto function)
I've seen in this post some codings referring to this, but got a bit confused. Grateful if you please list down the required codings I should be doing for this tweat. And also include the coding to add the CH/LH function in the Exterior Lighting menu on the MMI
Guess for interior auto dimming mirror. there is no coding required?
Thanks

kcurpen . Unlike other MQB platform cars, your A3 8V has a rotary light switch (called "LDS") that uses LIN protocol rather than needing a separate wire for each position. This means that comms between the LDS and the central electrics module happens over just one wire (there's another wire for power). So, programming the hex09 module should be fairly simple - assuming that your car is already programmed for the other lighting functions on the new LDS (like allweather lights and rear fog light) To add the AUTO function to the central electrics module do this: - Außenlicht_uebergreifend-LDS_mit_AFL > yes
The rain-light-sensor is also a LIN slave of the central electrics module - but it has it's own long-code string. The "normal" value of this long-code is 00006C
To tell the hex09 module to start operating the rain-light-sensor, do this: - Assistance light functions-Regen_Lichtsensor > LIN_REGEN_LICHT_SENSOR
Here's the settings from a A3 relating to the other light-sensor variables in the hex09 module: Light sensor Daemmerungsgrenze: Hysterese_obergrenze > 1200 lx Daemmerungsgrenze_Hysterese_untergrenze > 2200 lx ECE_Lichteinschaltschwelle > 1000 lx Einschaltgrenze_CHO_LHO > 600 lx Helligkeitsgrenze_Licht__einschalten > 1200 lx Helligkeitsgrenze_Licht_ausschalten > 2200 lx Helligkeitsgrenze_Licht_ausschalten_red > 00 50 Helligkeitsgrenze_sehr_hell > 4000 lx HMI_Exterior_light_on_highway > not active HMI_Exterior_light_on_rain > not active HMI_exterior_light_sensitivity > frueh HMI_Wiper_Comfort_Rain_Sensor_OFF > not active LS_Error_Ausgabe > not active Maximale_Ausgangsspannung > 4500 mV Maximale_Beleuchtungsstaerke > 6000 lx Minimale_Ausgangsspannung > 2000 mV Minimale_Beleuchtungsstaerke > 0 lx Tunnel_einschalt_verzoegerung > 2
For the CH/LH question, I suggest that you use the forum search function - I've answered this question multiple times!
Finally, the anti-dazzle rear mirror is ostensibly a stand alone unit. However, if you have High Beam Assist fitted, there are connections to the CAN high/low wires (extended CAN) on the Gateway module. But yes, no coding needed - because the mirror itself does not participate on the CAN bus

Thanks again for your prompt reply, I will try this during the WE, one last thing, where can I enable the Comfort Closing of windows from the rain sensor. That is if it detects rain, it closes the windows.
cheers, Kevin.
