I have a Audi A3 Facelift from 2017.
I changed the humidity sensor in my car to a RLHS (8U0 955 559 B). I also switched to the auto switch.
the headlamps are xenon with led running lights. also trying to figure out how to code the coming home leaving home function.
I see a lot of information on this forum about this car but with the new interface im a bit lost.
Im sorry about the slim information i gave before. Hope you can help me out a bit more now
thanks!

yarnjnss : hmmm.........I'm sure that you know lots about your car; what options were included from the factory and the part number of the new equipment that was retrofitted. You need to share more of that information with the forum to add context to your questions For example, "changed my sensor to a RLHS" kind-of implies that the car already had another type of sensor - which means that the car has been factory coded for the device. Is this so? If so, post up the long-code string for the old sensor and tell us about the new sensor Don

If it helps this is the layout im working with. I see a lot of different kinds of layouts and can't figure out how to do the same things on this layout. In long coding a lot is different from the other forum topics. So thats why i made a different post. Hope someone can figure it out and explain it! thanks

hmm.......... the sensor is "G397 RFLSS" on your first screen: click on G397 RFLSS - then click on Long coding - then post a picture of the Bit-setup here: Don

Hi, thanks for the response. here is the long coding screen from the G397 RFLSS. OK - the factory setting for the long code value on G397 is 00006C. Your value is 02006C (see your screenshot). So, I suggest that you remove the tick in Byte 0, Bit 1 box (in your picture) These are screenshots from the long coding in 09 searching for lights and sensor: hmm....... "long coding in 09"? I'm not sure where these 2 x screenshots come from? As can be seen in your picture in this post: This is via 09-> long coding idk if this helps the long-code value for the 09 module is a string-of-zeros! I suspect the confusion is one of terms - did you mean that the 2 x screenshots are from Adaptation in the 09 module?
Anyhow, it doesn't matter - I suggest that you search in Adaptation in the 09 module for "Assistance light functions", then select Regen_Lichtsensor - is the value of this channel LIN_REGEN_LICHT_SENSOR? If not, set it to this value
Finally - what was the objective of this project- why did you install the RLS?

Hi, I installed the RLHS to get my automatic windshield wipers to work together with automatic headlights and the function coming home leaving home. I only had the humidity sensor standard from the factory. Replacing the sensor with the RLHS and I also replaced the switch. So I was looking to get it programmed via OBD. But since this is the first time I have done this its has been a struggle so you are really helping me out thanks for that! As of the things you said I found out that the assistance light function was correct. Regen_Lichtsensor - is the value of this channel LIN_REGEN_LICHT_SENSOR. And i put the bit on 0 making it 00006C. When i put my switch on auto I also get this warning. Translated it says "City lights activated" Yarno Attachments:

yarnjnss: OK, thanks for the explanation - I now know what you are trying to do
So - since your car wasn't factory fitted with a rotary light switch (called "LDS") that had an AUTO position, you need to make sure that the AFL setting is enabled like this:
As for the city lights message, this function is enabled in the module @ hex55 (not sure what OBD11 calls it - probably something like "headlight range"). Go to Coding - then navigate to Byte 4, Bit 2 and remove the tick from this box.

I did disable the 2 byte If I want to enable the auto switch it asks for a security code? Any idea what this could be?

Hi, So far so good everything you said gave me one step forward! The lights come on automatically now when driving but I can’t change the sensitivity. also I figured out how to enable the Coming home leaving home. The lights now turn on and off when unlocking the car and when leaving the car. But the time the lights come on can't be edited. I enable the MMI to display the option but I can only enable or disable the function I can't edit the time. so question one: 1) how can i edit the time for the ch/lh function? 2) is there a way to turn off the lights when I press the unlock button on my keyfob? Also I haven't found a way to enable the rain sensor. 3) Is there anything I should change? Thanks for the great help so far! Yarno

yarnjnss: Question #1: Central electrics module -select Adaptation - search for "uebergreifend" - select Außenlicht_uebergreifend
- For CH time, select Menueeinstellung Cominghome> enter time in seconds
- For, LH time - select Menueeinstellung Leaving-home Zeit per BAP >enter time in seconds
Question #2:I don't understand - when you press the unlock button on the keyfob, the LH lights illuminate
Question 3: Central electrics module -select Adaptation - search for "Front" - select Front_wiper - select Regensensor aktivieren and set to Deactivating

Hi dv52 (Australia)That option isn't visible on my car. I copied the settings from a different A3 with the same spec and same sensor. There were a couple of settings not correct. I changed settings in Central electrics module - Adaptation - Front wiper Changed all the different settings to the correct factory settings from the other A3 but it still didn't work. Do you have any other idea were something could be wrong? Thanks Yarno

yarno: Only other thing I can suggest is to check the wiring. Here's the schematic for the LDS and the rain/light sensor: Check that there is volts @ pin #1 on the sensor, and pin#2 on the LDS and check that correct pins are earthed Don

Hi don, I’ve been busy with trying to figure it out. Since we last talked I got the car to recognize the sensor and it now shows up in the MMI screen. It just says the system is momentarily not available. Any ideas?

- does the sensor work on lights?
- does the sensor work on wipers?
- have you checked wiring?
- do you have battery volts @ pin #1 on the sensor, and pin#2 on the LDS?
- Are the correct pins on both sensor and LDS earthed?

Automatic headlights work. Ch,LH function also works. The sensor itself works. Pins that needs power have power. Pins that need to be grounded are grounded.
I keep on scratching my head on what else can be wrong. I’ve looked over the settings in 09 and can’t seem to find anything wrong

I'm out of suggestion too - perhaps try long code value above (00006C)?

yes to "subsystem" but NO to "09-> long coding"!! I thought that your car had the newer type hex09 module which doesn't have an active long-code (i.e. OBD11 reports a zero-string). Why are there non-zero long-code values on hex09 module in your picture?

Hi,
Well to be really honest I don’t know. I had a guy that works with VCDS and he couldn’t get in to the 09 code. The things you said made it come up in the OBD11 and I could program the 09 long coding. The guy with the VCDS didn’t figure it out how.
So I have no idea. I know a “lot” about the hardware of cars. Software and coding is new to me and I’m trying to get the hang of it.
With your help it has been working really wel.
So thank you for that!
But with this information is there something else I can do?

hmmm..........the fact that OBD11 would allow access to the hex09 long-code and VCDS wouldn't allow access doesn't matter! THE LONG-CODE IN HEX09 SHOULD BE ALL ZEROS on your module - please change it

Hi don, I changed every value to 00 as you said. The rainsensor now comes up in the MMI but it says this function is momentarily unavailable. Here are screenshots of the 09->Adaptation->front wiper Normally everything in here is OK since the guy who tried to fix it said it was. (also the guy who made it not work anymore) Before he touched it the sensor worked but he changed something and can't remember what. and since then the rainsensor won't work. So that's why I post the screenshots for you to maybe find something wrong. Yarno

Ive gone trough all the settings and changed one value.
Sadly it didn't make the rain sensor work. I think im just going to stop trying to fix it and leave it at it is. would Audi itself help me out? Or won't they try because its not from the factory?
Also extremely thankful for you to keep helping me out. I would have been lost without the help of you sir!!
