'19 Golf R, NAR spec. 2nd generation dongle, using with iOS.
I used a couple of one-touch apps (against the advice of many, but I've never had any trouble using them in the past) to modify some minor stuff - seat belt chime, and 1 or 2 other things that escape my memory. When finished, I have a very odd side-effect - my start button, which used to start the engine with a single short press, now requires me to hold it down as the engine cranks, then release it. If I only do the momentary press as before, it stops trying to turn over immediately.
How can I go back and correct this? I've now lost faith in the one-touch apps and avoid in the future.

Have you done a backup prior to the changes?

^ ^^ more importantly, have you checked what changes that you have made in the History section of OBD11 software?

I thought that History doesn't track changes made with apps?

^^^ My understanding is that some Apps now do populate the History records with the changes made. I don't have a list of which Apps do this (and which don't) - but it's an easy try, so worth looking IMO.

Thanks Don, I'll check for it.
I've never seen any mention, in 4 years of ownership going back to my first Mk7 R, of being able to alter the start button operation even if one wanted to. This one is a real nut-scratcher.

My 2019 Golf r manual started doing this also after using obdeleven. After clearing faults I have a clutch stop installed so I have to remove the clutch stop, push the clutch all the way to floor and hold the start button one time to start, then reinstall the clutch stop and it works with a single press afterward.

Can confirm this just worked on my 2021 Jetta GLI Autobahn 6MT!!! I think it's very important to point out it seems you MUST clear the codes, even if there are none, becuase I failed to do so the first time around and was unable to resolve the issue. Here are the steps I took to make the fix work: 1.) remove clutch stop 2.) start vehicle and connect to OBDeleven 3.) perform a full scan and clear all codes 4.) shut off vehicle and exit 5.) lock the doors from the outside then unlock them 6.) get back in the vehicle and push clutch to floor and hit the start button once - issue should be cleared now 7.) reinstall clutch stop THANK YOU shawsvw for posting the above info - I've got hours of research into this and was almost ready to give up!
