I always thought the 10-color ambient lighting colors out there on the internet (and in the obdeleven app) looked somewhat ugly so here is a version that splits the HSV Hue Saturation Value spectrum into 30 colors. It does not include white. You can also use this to make your own colors. Each line is a Rotwert,Gruenwert,Blauwert value in the "Ambient light color list" and "Ambience_lighting_color_list_2" adaptations. These are in Central Electrics, module 09. Ambient light color list255, 0, 0 - red (example: Rotwert färbe 1: 255, Gruenwert färbe 1: 0, Blauwert färbe 1: 0) 255, 51, 0 255, 102, 0 255, 153, 0 255, 204, 0 255, 255, 0 204, 255, 0 153, 255, 0 102, 255, 0 51, 255, 0 ---------------------------------- Ambience_lighting_color_list_20, 255, 0 - green 0, 255, 51 0, 255, 102 0, 255, 153 0, 255, 204 0, 255, 255 0, 204, 255 0, 153, 255 0, 102, 255 0, 51, 255 0, 0, 255 - blue 51, 0, 255 102, 0, 255 153, 0, 255 204, 0, 255 255, 0, 255 255, 0, 204 255, 0, 153 255, 0, 102 255, 0, 51

Hey nico, sure, what problem are you having? The colors don't work at all? Do you see the "Ambient Lighting / Background Lighting" menu?

hello, your car already has ambient lights? if the answer is no: probably because of that, if it is YES: the first thing is to activate the menu so that it appears on the screen and then put each color, that is to say, place a value for red, one for blue and one for green. It is a modification with MEDIUM DIFFICULTY, but if you do not have coding experience, I recommend using the OBD11 direct access to activate ambient lights. PS I don't speak English well, use translator, an apology if something is misspelled Change color of multimedia and active info display [VN]_Interior_light_2nd_generation: [LO]_Instrumententafelbeleuchtung mehrfarbig: [VN]_active [VN]_Interior_light_lamp_configuration: [LO]_Ambient_Farbliste_HMI: [VN]_active [VN]_Ambience_lightning_color_listr in OBD11 Ambientelicht Farbliste You can make your own list, it is RGB in dec format [LO]_Rotwert Farbe 1:217 [LO]_Gruenwert Farbe 1:221 [LO]_Blauwert Farbe 1:235 [LO]_Rotwert Farbe 2:169 [LO]_Gruenwert Farbe 2:169 [LO]_Blauwert Farbe 2:169 [LO]_Rotwert Farbe 3:253 [LO]_Gruenwert Farbe 3:108 [LO]_Blauwert Farbe 3:55 [LO]_Rotwert Farbe 4:242 [LO]_Gruenwert Farbe 4:0 [LO]_Blauwert Farbe 4:40 [LO]_Rotwert Farbe 5:254 [LO]_Gruenwert Farbe 5:88 [LO]_Blauwert Farbe 5:240 [LO]_Rotwert Farbe 6:124 [LO]_Gruenwert Farbe 6:63 [LO]_Blauwert Farbe 6:190 [LO]_Rotwert Farbe 7:0 [LO]_Gruenwert Farbe 7:102 [LO]_Blauwert Farbe 7:255 [LO]_Rotwert Farbe 8:0 [LO]_Gruenwert Farbe 8:204 [LO]_Blauwert Farbe 8:255 [LO]_Rotwert Farbe 9:0 [LO]_Gruenwert Farbe 9:204 [LO]_Blauwert Farbe 9:0 [LO]_Rotwert Farbe 10:136 [LO]_Gruenwert Farbe 10:255 [LO]_Blauwert Farbe 10:57 taking advantage of the post ... Someone knows how to activate the "light" icon, since when activating the 30-color ambient lights option, the option of being able to regulate the intensity of the foot light and door light (photo 1 photos.app.goo.gl/GgQPM6B6boZXPFNu6) individually is lost. Can somebody help me? activate so that it looks like photo 2(https://photos.app.goo.gl/C3KmC21SjDdNy11g7) attached. I know it is through a configuration in p_ambientelicht_verbauinformation_HMI Bit0 p_ambientelicht_verbauinformation_HMI2 p_ambientelicht_verbauinformation_HMI3 Regards

Just change
p_ambienteumfang_mehrfarbig_HMI: 0 p_ambienteumfang_mehrfarbig_HMI_2: 0 p_ambienteumfang_mehrfarbig_HMI_3: 0 p_ambienteumfang_mehrfarbig_HMI_4: 0
To 111111 (I think the setting says 0-255, ignore that) Now if you want the picture to have the same colour as you chosen then change these to 111111
p_ambientelicht_verbauinformation_HMI: 0 p_ambientelicht_verbauinformation_HMI_2: 0 p_ambientelicht_verbauinformation_HMI_3: 0 p_ambientelicht_verbauinformation_HMI_4: 0

^^ (oops, we posted at the same time. Sorry lol) There used to be a great video by vwjap but he took down his videos unfortunately. Not sure what happened but looks like some greedy butt-holes got mad at him for posting information for free. This post is what I used to enable everything on my GTI, it works perfectly, and with brightness options for the door and footwell. See the bottom with the bolded text: ---------------------------------------------------- Module 09 (Central Electrics) Security access -> 31347 Adaptation Module 09 (Central Electrics) Security access -> 31347 Adaptation Submenu - Int. Light, 2nd generation - Instrumententafelbeleuchtung mehrfarbig -> active Submenu - Interior light, light configuration - Ambientemenue mit globalem aus -> active - Ambientemenue mit alle Zonen -> active - Ambient_Farbliste_HMI -> active Submenu - Interior lighting, parameter - p_ambienteumfang_mehrfarbig_HMI -> 100 - p_ambienteumfang_mehrfarbig_HMI_2 -> 100 - p_ambientelicht_verbauinformation_HMI -> 11111111 - p_ambientelicht_verbauinformation_HMI_2 -> 11111111 ---------------------------------------------------- This info is from here www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/459056-my19-vrs-background-lighting/?do=findComment&comment=5254366. Which is originally from this forum, lol.

Yeah the door and footwell lights are not multicoloured The roof and Center console do not have LED fitted The second lot of coding is for changing the colour on screen from white to chosen colour I took the videos down because I was getting more abuse and silly questions than I thought worth it The mod was mine I found it (it looked as tho simonz had something to do with it, he did not, he was a leach that stole others ideas to sell)

Sorry, that really stinks. Sometimes people are just unfathomably thick headed and entitled. I thought your videos were helpful, 99% of people won’t take the time to document what they do with coding and post it online.
And yeah, those videos where they tease a cool feature and won’t reveal how to do it makes me so frustrated. That one Italian guy on YouTube comes to mind lol, there are some others too. Soooo much of car technology in general is shrouded in secrecy. It sucks for anyone who wants to DIY. Any efforts to post information and guides should be appreciated.

Was that the one touch windows by remote video the Italian guy posted, yeah that was simonz, he came on here a lot and a Italian mods forum and took the info and started to do them videos to sell, he was also quite proud of the fact voltas used a picture of his dash on the undertaking prevention app (which also was a mod I found)

Hello everyone, I had an issue: I’ve turned on 10 colours using adaptation, but there is no way to get 30 colours, there is no “ colourlist2” anywhere... and from application obd11 it say not supported. Any idea ? Thanks

Pop to a vw independent and ask them to update the firmware on the central electronics menu, but it’ll cost you (2017 model by any chance?)

2018gti wonder if you swap a ambienceColorMap.res from a 30 colour car to a 10 colour car it would give you 30 colours? forget that, that’s for the default colours not the background lighting colours, so on earlier cars it is possible to change the colours if your bcm doesn’t allow background lighting. But it’s a complicated job, I just have to find if the colour list is written to file, but I think it’s in the bios unfortunately

I’ll be honest I have no clue about that, though I’m very interested, haha. Where is this .res file? Is that part of the MIB filesystem? BCM?

Yeah you need telnet or ssh access, it has the original colours in the file in binary/hex in rgb, plus the 4 skinnings (3 = red 9 = blue plus 5 and 7), but I presume the 09 module has priority over the 5f colour table, for telnet if you have the right firmware you can just log in via wifi or using a dlink dub300 if you know the password for the version you have, for ssh you need to load some files and make a public key, all interesting stuff tho

My 2021 GLI doesn't have the color list 2 menu either. The one-click ambient lighting app doesn't work to activate the 30 colors either. In fact, the one-click ambient lighting app doesn't work for any of the options.

For such purposes, I usually use smart LED strips. The installation of LED strips is relatively simple since the flexible printed circuit board easily adheres to most dry, clean surfaces. The availability of preset animation effects and a wide range of colors simplify customization. In feeds from the site, www.vont.com/product/smart-strip-lights-led-strip-lights/, you can adjust the schedule so that the light automatically becomes brighter or dimmer depending on the time of day. These lanterns are created for ease of use and fun.
