I'm trying to work out whether an oil level gauge can ever work on the GTI. I've found the menu items (oil_level) and enabled them, restarted the Infotainment unit but no joy.
Has anyone ever tried?
Does the GTI have the oil level hardware that is found on Audis where I know the gauge can be enabled?

I'm not sure because I don't have a MIBII, but I know that it's possible to select different gauges in the "Off-road information" function - by swiping the gauges on the screen up-down. But I'm not sure if oil-level is one of the options (Oil temperature, water temperature are in the Off-road application). If you were sufficiently interested, you could try implementing the tweak - it's a really neat function (as I understand from those that have a MIBII). But you need to have SATNAV to make Off -road information work.
Here's how it looks on the screen and below the picture is the tweak instructions

PS: Admin: - you might consider making an App for this tweak. I'm sure lots of credits will be spent putting this function into MQB platform vehicles!!
Enable "Offroad-Information": OBD11 Instructions - for MIBII with SATNAV only Step 1. Select Information Control Unit 1 (@address hex5F) Step 2. Select Security access Step 3. Enter the magic number 20103 Step 4. Select Adaptation Step 5. Search for Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2 Step 6. Select menu_display_compass - set to active (default not active) Step 7. Select menu_display_compass_over_threshold_high - set to active (default not active) Step 8. Search for Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2 Step 9. Select compass_0x15 - set to active (default not active)
Exit OBD11 software Step 10. Reset the MIB unit - press and hold the ON/OFF button on the infotainment unit for greater than 10 seconds.

Interesting, thanks.
I wonder if the oil level appears on a screen like this? Hmmm...

No oil level. Shame.
I have, however now got no temperature gauge movement on the dash at all. Not changed anything to do with that. Could it be the fact the offroad screen is somehow using the communications channel used for the dash?

Interestingly the temp gauge didn't work at all, even on a direct test, but has this week sprung back to life! I changed absolutely nothing!

The coding for this is possible but currently i've only seen it done on one car, it's a 2020 Passat with MIB 3, the oil level seems to work but looks like it is missing a proper oil level sensor.
