Hello,

I am looking to enable adaptive lane tracking on a 2019 Alltrack. This is explained as being accomplished my A5>Long coding>point of intervention>replace “late” with “early”.

When I scan my car I get 24 control modules that are being scanned and then populate in the modules listed. In my backups however, only 19 are listed. Of importance for the desired coding, the A5 module can not be accessed - I get this message “Error. Control unit not responding. Check ignition and try again”

Can anyone advise what is happening here?

Thanks awdwagon - this is exactly what I want to do, but I can’t access A5.

I have ignition on - but engine off (not started).

When I scan - the module is found.
When I backup - no data about A5 is captured
In my control modules list - The module has a red circle around “A5” right now, but when I click it I get “ERROR, Control unit not responding, check ignition and try again”.

Any ideas appreciated...

I’m beginning to think this is an iOS specific issue. Which is irritating because I bought next gen specifically for this purpose.

Can anyone confirm? Do I need to add A5 to a gateway? Or is there a known bug with iOS in certain modules? I have 7 that display that error - while the others seem to allow access.

Well the red circle means that there is an error but you should still be able to look at it and read the error.

Have you tried looking at the control unit when not connected to the car and see if you can actually read the error its showing.

You have got the camera right?

On last scan, the bubble around it is now green, but either way I don’t get any of the data downloaded during scan, so I can’t poke around offline.

The same is actually true for 6 more units which are recognized during scan, but don’t show up in the backup data, and produce that error when I click them. 29 2b 39 a5 ca d6 d7 all exhibit this.

I have both android and IOS and with regards to control units both give me all the same output.

Are you running the latest version 1.3.5 of the software and have you updated to the latest firmware

If you dont have an android phone do you have access to another VAG Car to see if its just your car that is causing the issue.

I don’t have access to another VAG car, and given my current lack of confidence in this device - I wouldn’t subject another car to it if I did.

I am running 1.3.5 version of the app.

I’m not sure how to check/update firmware?

You are on the latest IOS Version but I logged on to my car yesterday and it downloaded a new version of the Firmware (takes about 5 minutes), if you have not already done it.

Have you been able to do anything other than run a scan

I would now be raising a call with the support team via the in app help function but they dont work weekends so afraid you are going to have to wait till Monday at the earliest.

whtwagon: ALL those modules have a common element; they are all connected to the Extended CAN bus. Sounds like something (either the Gateway module @ address hex19, or OBD11 software - I'm guessing) is having trouble reading this CAN network.

Are there any errors on the Gateway module? Better still - how about posting-up a copy of your scan report - it's done like this:

No offense intended, but at face value the scan suggests that your car doesn't have a forward viewing camera (i.e. a module @ hex A5)- the lane change module @ hex3C will be the backward facing radars that are installed in the rear quarter panels (there will be a module on either side of the car).

Certainly no offense taken! And I agree - that’s what this scan looks like!

Except I do have the camera and working lane assist, and a sunroof, and LED headlights with light assist. All requiring modules that are missing in the scan for some reason. This is a top trim Alltrack with DAP.

During the scan all 24 modules consume scan time, and the control units list shows all 24 - but I can’t access 7 of them including the one in question.

I’ve confirmed that A5 is checked in the gateway list.

Is there any value in removing this vehicle from the garage and trying the initial scan again? Anything special I should do when doing so, bonnet open, door open, pat my head, rub my stomach?

No, all removing the car from the Garage does is Archive it, as soon as you enter the VIN it will bring back the old details.

You did mention that the car details were not shown on the last scan have you checked the details on the car (in the app) to make sure it has selected the correct vehicle as OBD11 Do use an external list to identify the car and it has been know to be wrong (not a lot)

Audi are much more inclined to add in extra security so please do not give them any more ideas to add in extra security (Pat head and Rub stomach), and just so you are aware the latest cars come with all new security that both OBD11 and VCDS are working on to fix (2020 Models on MQB Platform).

I also think that its Bonnet open and hand brake on (had not seen the hand brake bit till recently) but I did not think that impacted the Scan only coding (as in when you tried to save the change) but happy to be told otherwise.

Went into garage>name>change>reset.
It changed form Volkswagen Golf Alltrack to Volkswagen Golf.

With a scan now, my txt file now reads Car: Volkswagen Golf instead of blank. Cool! But didn’t collect anymore data about the 7 modules, or allow us in to long coding.

Pretty sure I’ve got to the bottom of this.

OBDeleven was NOT at latest firmware, AND iOS app didn’t detect or offer to update it.

Attaching an Android device a firmware update was prompted at start up. I obliged. Then, I disconnected and reconnected with IOS - this time a firmware update was offered. I again obliged. All seems to be right in the world now. 24 detected and scanned control units.

I believe the bug is: iOS can not detect and prompt firmware update from the version of firmware next gen devices are shipped with. Pretty significant bug?!
