Hi,
I have just installed some LED fog lights to my Mk6 polo GTi, and thankfully I've not had any errors yet. However, I'd like to code the car right so it knows I have LEDs installed.
I found the lights and can also see they are set as allgemeine Scheinwerfer. Right side: Leuchte13NL RB3 Left side: Leuchte12NL LB40
Guides tell me to set it to 6 - LED Lichtmodul but this isn't here. I can see lots of values but most of them say Reserved_01, Reserved_02 etc.
Is this because they haven't got a description yet, or is it because these options aren't available on my car?
I don't want to try out the reserved_06 in case it's something completely different like DRL or Indicator functions of you know what I mean. It would be very awkward if I'd accidentally set the lights as hazards or main beams without realising !
Thanks Matt

Image attached. As you can see, just shows Reserved_06

^^^^^ matt: Hi
Your mk6 Polo GTI has a Group A0 build platform and I suspect that you are using instructions from MQB build platform vehicles. On MQB vehicles, the list of options for the "Lasttyp" ("Type_Of_Load" on your car) channels in Leuchte-sets is far greater than on your picture.
Selecting a particular setting in the Type_Of_Load channel tells the module that drivers the lamps how to set-up the power supply for each individual light. There are really 2 x options; incandescent & LED, and the choice basically changes the Pulse Width Modulation frequency of the power supply to the light. Look-up PWM on Google to find-out what it means, but it is used by the module in this instance to implement lamp dimming.
So what to do? Well...... it really depends on the LEDs that are installed in the new fogs; some LEDs are happy to be driven as incandescent lamps and some are not. I suggest that you leave the setting as is if you don't get any error messages. If you do, try one of the settings with the term "LED" in its name (are there any more options in your picture if you scroll down?). Just keep trying different LED options - you won't damage anything, but you may generate a fault message. If a fault appears, simply change to another option and clear the error. It's just a process of trial-and-error.

Thanks Don.
Not had any errors yet, so will leave it as is. Yes, there are loads of options. If I get any dash errors, I will translate each LED one to English and see what each one does.
Out of curiosity, does 'Reserved_xx' mean that particular item isn't available, or just that we don't know what it does ?
Cheers for your help, Matt

Out of curiosity, does 'Reserved_xx' mean that particular item isn't available, or just that we don't know what it does ? Cheers for your help, Matt Matt: I don't know for certain, but I suspect the options like "Reserved_xx" are simply placeholders in the software; I suspect that these options don't contain any useful information for the module. Here's a more fullsome list of the MQB options for the "Lasttyp" channel - If you are tempted to change to a LED specific option, I suggest that you look at the power rating of the LED and choose a general LED option that's appropriate for the new lamp. Please also be aware that some LED options allow dimming values of up to 127 (instead of 100 for incandescent light options).

Thanks !
Incandescent (number 10) is working for the moment, but I might try 6 if I come across any issues.
Since I'm sticking to the incandescent option at the moment, I presume 100 is the highest that mode will support, right ?

Hi.. the list you put up. is going to be useful for many here
I'm wondering if these lists are available online or even here somewhere (they might be model specific though?).. I'm interested because there was another section on the app with my Polo that was also partly in German (DRLs settings)
took me ages to find this route and translate: DRLs off with handbrake
Electrics – security access 31347
Search - tagfahrlicht Dauerfahrlicht bei Handbremse abschalten
Daytime running lights Switch off continuous running lights with handbrake
If I could find these lists I'd translate them too and post here for anyone to refer to as I did further up.. No big deal or work involved: I was just using Google Translate - copy/paste into it and up it comes.
