So I want to add the option, but I'm not seeing the option in the CE adaptations of the control unit as was listed in another thread.
I've got a 17 Alltrack.
Thanks

^^^ for all models later than MY16, there was a fairly major change to the adaptation channel database on the module @ address hex09 (what you call "CE"). Rather than searching for Daytime running lights (this only applies to pre-MY16 modules), search instead for Außenlicht_Front and then select Tagfahrlicht Aktivierung durch BAP oder Bedienfolge moeglich. It worked. Brilliant as always Don.
I was hoping to pick your brain about another issue with lighting. A while back I made a change which I believe was DRL when parking lights on. It worked, but when I have my normal low beams on the DRL is on but very dim. I was hoping to get it back to how it was and in my history the changes I made are down below. Do I just reverse them to the original values to get them back to normal?
Leuchte13NL RB5 -Lichtfunktion D13
old value- nicht aktiv new value- Lichthupe generell
Leuchte 13NL RB5 -Lichtfuntion C13
old value- nicht aktiv new value- fernlicht rechts
Leuchte12NL RB5 -Dimmwert CD13
old value- 0 new value-100
Leuchte12NL LB45 -Dimmwert CD12
old value- 0 new value-100
LichtfunktionD12
old value- nicht aktiv new value- Lichthupe generell
Leuchte12NL LB45 -Licht funktionC12
old value- nicht aktiv
new value- fernlicht links

^^^ hmm......... those changes relate to how the fog lights operate - for high beam flash and low beam. Is this what you are referring-to?

So what did the changes I made above do?
I thought those are what made my DRLs on with US park lights. My DRLs do come on with park lights while they did not stock.
I'm still confused as to why my DRLs come on but very dim with my low beams.

^^^ activating the adaptation channel (above) places a software switch on the MIB screen that enables the driver to switch-ON/OFF the DRLs - see below: As to why your DRLs are illuminated dimly with your low-beams, I suspect (guess really) that the Leuchte-sets for the DRLs has the added Leuchte-command Abblendlicht links/rechts included in one of the Lichtfunktion channels.
As I have said, this is my guess because I don't know what country we are in and what model mk7 we are talking about. That said, I recently helped a colleague on another forum from USA who had a 2016 e-golf SEL (NAR model) - the car had an LED strip on the bumper as DRLs which also illuminated the same as yours. On that car, the Leuchte-command was enabled by Leuchte4TFL LB4-Lichtfunktion C 4 and Leuchte5 TFL RB32-Lichtfunktion C 5 - but I'm not sure if this is the same on your car Don

So looking at my lights the DRLs are on but dim when I have park lights or lows on (even with DRL off in the menu). What should I look for (and change) to have the DRLs off with park or lows? I have a feeling I'll be looking for something and changing the value to zero for DRLs. I just got a euro switch so I think if I can get the DRLs off in those 2 states I should be able to run fogs with parking which is what I'd like during the day. I have a NA Alltrack MY2017

Hey Don. So looking at my lights the DRLs are on but dim when I have park lights or lows on (even with DRL off in the menu). What should I look for (and change) to have the DRLs off with park or lows? I have a feeling I'll be looking for something and changing the value to zero for DRLs. I just got a euro switch so I think if I can get the DRLs off in those 2 states OK - for DRLs off with Parking lights/low-beams: First, I need to disabuse you of the notion that the these are "DRL" lamps: they are not. The lamps in question are in fact multi-purpose - one state of which is the DRL function (being lamps switched-on during daylight). But these lamps also operate as a form of parking light (in dimmed form) and as "DRL wink" and sometimes as Single-Sided-Parking-Lights (SSPL).
I assume that what you call "park lights" is SSPL and what you call "lows" is the function where these lamps illuminate when low beam lights (dipped beams) are switched-on - which I'm calling "Parking Lights" in this reply
Second - to find the section of code that pertains to any of the above functions - you need to understand how Leuchte-set operate: the fundamental structure of the Leuchte-sets for these lamps on incandescent fittings is like this (it's shown for VCDS, but it's the same for OBD11): So - I'm not sure how your car is programmed, but notice the way that the functions are sector-ed into "banks" and in particular, note the Leuchte-command for Parking lights - which is Standlicht vorn (Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht) in the table, but it can also be Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht; Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht) (let's not get into the difference between the 2 x commands here)
So- with these facts as background- you simply need to look through the Leuchte-sets for these "multi-function" lamps and identify the Lichtfunktion alpha identifier which has the commands above. Then you need to locate the Dimmwert channel that has this same alpha identifier in the Leuchte-set. If you have done this correctly, the existing Dimmwert setting should be a low number(like 28, or 31), Simply change this setting to zero. The target Leuchte-sets for your search are: Leuchte4TFL LB4 Leuchte5 TFL RB32 Leuchte2SL VLB10 Leuchte3SL VRB21 I should be able to run fogs with parking which is what I'd like during the day. I have a NA Alltrack MY2017 Much confusion about this statement =please explain "parking" - which I assume is short for "parking-lights" don't illuminate "during the day"?

Awesome. Thank you Don. I'll look into this tomorrow (gotta get up early). Hopefully I can get this sorted out with your guidance. It's the inner beams that are also my highs (I believe) so it makes sense that these are multi function. I'm not sure what I did to get then where they are, but I suspect I tinkered without knowing what I was doing. I'll report back. Thank you again sir.

And yes, I meant parking lights. I can turn them on with the switch and since it is a euro switch turn the fog lights on as well. If I can get the multi function/DRLs back to zero with your above instructions I will hopefully just have the parking and fog lights without the annoying dimmed multi/DRL.

Brilliant as always Don. Found
Leuchte4TFL LB4 Leuchte5 TFL RB32
And changed the Dimmwert from 31 to 0 which accomplished what I was looking for.
Thank you so much mate.

So Don, with your guidance I was able to get rid of the annoying multifunction and add the DRL on/off on the MIB (touch screen settings). But I can't turn on the DRLs when I check the box. I know there's a value somewhere in one of those banks up above, but looking around I got nervous about changing things randomly with everything being in German.

I figured that's where I need to change something. Under Leuchte 4TFL LB4 & 5TF RB32 Litchinfunktion B4 & B5 values they were set to "nicht aktiv", setting them to "100 aktiv" keeps them on regardless of what I select on the touchscreen. I set them to "Blinken links aktiv (beide Phasen)" and they work as DRL with switch in park light position and I can turn them on/off on touchscreen. I'm going to translate the various options into English to see what each is.
