I'm looking to reverse the direction of the wifi connection so the car acts as a client not a host making it so the car can connect to my phone wifi hotspot. This could enable Google Earth nav and other audi connect prime features without paying the monthly service charge for internet. I know there are some Canadians that have enabled this in a few different models to get Google Earth navigation working in Pre audi connect Canadian cars (see: www.audiworld.com/forums/a4-b9-platform-discussion-212/guide-enable-google-earth-traffic-canada-spec-audi-2912779/ ). However when I go into my adaptations or long coding mine doesn't match what's discussed in that thread at all. I have a US '17 S3 Premium Plus with virtual cockpit, if anyone knows how this is done or can work on getting this working let me know and I'll help however I can. 👍 Thanks!

Google Maps will work on both Digital Cockpit and MMI screen without Audi Connect sub anyway.
The trick to this is turning off the data module and disconnecting the Bluetooth that turns your phone into a hands free device within the mmi - when you disconnect the handsfree mode and just leave it as a "wifi player" you can share your internet connection over Bluetooth with the cars sim via android 8 and up. You'll see "use personal hotspot" highlight in the wifi section when done this way. Once you've got the car using personal hotspot you'll be able to connect other devices to the cars SSID etc.
It's tricky as hell and can be finicky at times but it'll work as I've been doing it now for months. I never used the Audi connect features anyway when android Auto is fully capable of taking over that part of the MMI [and is far superior IMO]
Don't worry about Green Menu changes on this as their are none that seem to be relevant - trust me I spent months finding the right combo for our gen MMI but did finally get in there only to be disappointed.

So, Disable the built-in SIM/Data Module. Then unpair the BT and connect my phone to the car wifi. And then I'll be able to share my sim over BT like the older A3s could?
