Hello all-
This is crazy but I cannot find a single thread about restoring a backup. I did what is recommended and dutifully created a backup. Now I would like to use it to restore the original values.
I can see the back up in my history. But I do not see a "restore" function. It appears it is not possible. Is that correct? If so, why bother with a backup when you have "History"?
Thanks in advance,

Hello, backups are important even tho you have your coding history. F.e. it makes it easier to find the original value than searching through the complete history. Here is a tutorial on how to restore the backup coding: forum.obdeleven.com/post/8922

Here is a tutorial on how to restore the backup coding: forum.obdeleven.com/post/8922Thank you very much. I have reviewed the above tutorial. I was hoping I would not have restore each value one by one. It appears that is the only option. Correct? A clarifying question, if I reset the MIB to factory settings after I had entered to the codes I want to restore, does this create a problem? In other words, will reverting to the old values still work? Thank you! windh2o 2018 GTI

My understanding:
For long coding you can do a single copy and paste and that will restore the car back to that point you have copied it from.
Adaptions you will have to do one by one and or use the apps to revert (but do any app changes first before you do any long coding changes).
on my car all the factory reset process does is align two parts of the cars systems, so for example if i turn on the open and close beep with the correct coding nothing happens however once I do a factory reset it then works fine.
Are you trying to remove all changes from your car or just clear out certain things because then obviously you can just compare your original backup to latest one and just change the adaptions that you want reverted.

I am sorry I am sure you have done this correctly but just in case. Firstly you cant do this off line so you have to be connected to your car with ignition on and good internet conection. This only works for the Long Coding not the Adaptation (those you have to do one by one i am afraid). So you can copy and paste or you can just type in the numbers one by one, The only exception to this rule would be on Newer cars with Control Unit 09 as this control unit no longer supports long coding.

arnie if you put up your history file it will show all the changes that have been applied.
All you have to do is reverse those changes.
