Hi all, Need some expert help on this one. I have my partners 2010 Audi A3 1.6 Petrol, I bought it at auction and it has minor crash damage only affecting rear bumper, crash bar, exhaust tip and wheel well slightly pushed in too, Got it repaired well by body shop and it now looks mint, From the day i got it it drove smooth but always thought it was lacking power slightly for a 1.6. felt more like a 1.2. Then one day on a long drive home on the motorway at high speeds i got a puff of white smoke out the back and down to 3 cylinders, drove it the remaining 30 miles home then had it diagnosed as cracked piston rings on cylinder 4. Compression test verified it. So no with replacement engine fitted it was going fine for first 30-40 miles then starting to misfire on 4 again..... then i swapped plugs, leads and coil pack and tried again. worked for a while then again about an hour into a long drive it started to miss again so got AA to take it home again then swapped injectors to the ones that come with replacement engine..... Same again... long drive then it starts missing when warmed up. the last thing i have tried is a new bank 1 o2 sensor and still problem persists.
Would anyone have any ideas where i should go from here. Is there any live data i can measure to try narrow down the cause.... At this point im now lookin at either wiring or ECU.....
Codes i get from OBDeleven is
01314 frequency counter 1 intermittent priority 2 00470 frequency counter 8 Static priority 3 Open Circut p0304 cylinder 4 Misfire Static p1212 cylinder shutoff bank 1 Static
I have a good multimeter here if tests are needed just would need a brief guide what to be doing cause im not entirely sure what im lookin at. all work done so far has been done by myself which is most likely why its still not fixed... :-)

Is there any common problems on these A3s with ECU connections/wiring..... Would it be worth my time trying to get at the ECU and remove connectors and spray with electrical contact cleaner??

Just did some tests with test light and car is getting spark when it's misfiring...... Can OBDeleven be used to check fueling in each cylinder?

Ok unplugged the wire going to injector and and pluged it on to another injector with pressurized carb cleaner hooked up to it and started car and its pulsing on and off as it should with a nice fine mist, Also to be sure i swapped out with this known goot injector and still no change. I really dont get it now, Its gettin spark, fuel and has compression but still the f##ker wont run.... How's that even possible?

Thanks for the reply cupra280, That first link seems prety similar to my situation, This part explains my symptoms well. "A MIL may be on with P0300 and/or P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304 (cylinder misfire detected), along with a rough idle. The engine may have reduced performance without significant loss of power or stalling." It mentions a bad ground to coil, My car has 1 coil pack for which runs all 4 plugs so there is not a separate ground for each cylinder, Also a week or so ago i tried using jump leads to make my own new grounds to try bypass any faulty ones. I put 1 end of both cables on battery negative then ran 1 to metal on the engine block and the other to the metal body and retried but still same symptoms exist.

Is there any live data i could log that would help narrow down the cause of my misfire?

Sorry as I said I dont know your car, what I can tell you on my car the following live data with regards to missfires Misfire sum counter Misfires per 1000 revolutions of cyl. 1 intake manif. injection Misfires per 1000 revolutions of cyl. 2 intake manif. injection Misfires per 1000 revolutions of cyl. 3 intake manif. injection Misfires per 1000 revolutions of cyl. 4 intake manif. injection Misfires per 1000 revolutions of cylinder 1 Misfires per 1000 revolutions of cylinder 2 Misfires per 1000 revolutions of cylinder 3 Misfires per 1000 revolutions of cylinder 4 You can see the full list of live data on my car here but these motors are not related so not sure it will help you much. Ok think I've narrowed down the cause of the fault a bit now. I removed the plug in cylinder 4 and it looked wet with petrol. So i used a dry plug from the old engine then the car ran great for a while. Idle was perfect in the driveway for about 20 mins running then after a 5 mile drive I left it to idle again and the misfire soon returned, Pulled plug and again its wet. Also I'm getting quite a few short circuit codes now so i was thinkin is it possible i have a short somewhere when engine is running causing a weaker spark so fuel isn't being burned up. Also worth noting that on test drive power was still down... Our 2006 3 cylinder 1.2 seat ibiza pulls better than this 1.6 does now even when its running on all 4....
I thought maybe bad ground so I have tried running a few extra ground wires to both engine block and body but not made any difference....
