I have a supercharged gen 1 r8 v10. I go to live data in the engine module, but it just gives me a list of 255 channels. There is no description of what any of them are nor a way to record or save them. Am I looking in the wrong place? I have a next gen module on iOS. Logging engine data is the main reason I bought this device, I saw youtube videos doing what I need, but my app appears to be different. Thanks!

Afraid to say you missed the multitude of people complaining about how poor the IOS Support is.
With regards to your question there are two missing features of the Pro License on IOS.
1/ Charts not supported - this is where you select the live data you want and you can record it and email output when done.
2/ Channel Labels (which may be blank as they are created by users) on IOS do not show the user descriptions
if you have an Android Phone / Tablet you can use the same login details and certainly get the Chart function but labels you will have to see.

at least I can use this for clearing codes and resetting maintainence reminders. Any good suggestions for a logging tool that isn't $$$?

On OBD11 Logging live data (so that you car read it later or email it) requires Android and Charts.
IOS Does have the Live Data element BUT it does not support charts and I have no expectation that it will anytime soon as this has been outstanding for many years and they are all busy on Toyota and other car brands in my personal view.
