Hi.
So I have an Audi A3 e-tron with "fog lights".. I have disconnected the cable on the fog lights, but now I get a warning that it's not working. Is it by any chance possible to code away this warning in the dash? It's a virtual cockpit dash.
Thanks anyways.

tomtees : Hi. hmmmm........ odd? Please explain when you get these warning messages (I would have thought that the simple answer to your question would be - don't turn-ON the fog lights)!! What is the build year of this car (does the central electrics module have an active long-code string)? Don

Hi, sorry for long response time!! It's a 2017, but it's not a button for the fog lights, it's constantly on. If you unplug them it says corning lights failure. If you search up "Audi A3 e-tron 2017" you should be able to see what I meant. It's like a fog light but constantly on. Thanks for helping out Don

The so called fog lights you are referring to are actually the daytime running lights 5 separate led bars on each side(DRL) for short. I know in my e-tron with the same DRLs you can switch them off from the mmi system.

@tomtree: OK - I think that I understand better now. When you use the term "parking-lights/fog lights" - I assume that you are referring to lamps in the front bumper - is this correct?
Fortunately I have a 2017 Audi A3 1.4 TFSI E-TRON CUKB (EU model) in my MQB platform database.
If my assumption is correct and if I'm correctly reading the factory settings in the central electrics module for how these lights are programmed for this model vehicle - then these lamps are factory-set to turn-ON whenever the ignition is switched-ON (and in Coming/Leaving Home mode) So, the lamps in the bumper on an Audi A3 E-Tron aren't designed to operate as "fog-lights" at all - they are really "position-lights".
If you want to change how the position-lights operate - then do this:
- Re-connect the position-lights to the car's wiring
- Ignition-ON, Engine-OFF
- Fire-up OBD11 software and connect to the car (via the dongle)
- Navigate to the central electrics module and select
- Scroll-down the options and select Adaptation
- Enter "LB45" into the search-box and select Leuchte12NL LB45 (this is the left-side position-light)
- ONLY IF the current setting for Lichtfunktion A = Klemme 15 mit Nachlauf bis Fahrzeugstillstand
- If you want the position-lights to NOT operate at all - change setting to nicht aktiv
- If you want the position-lights to operate ONLY at night (safer option IMO) -change setting to Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht; Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht)
- Return to the Adaptation screen - Step 5 above
- Enter "RB5" into search box and select Leuchte13NL RB5 (this is the right-side position-light)
- Repeat Step 7 above
- Exit OBD11 software and remove dongle from car's OBD port
I repeat for emphasis - make the changes above ONLY if the existing setting for Lichtfunktion A is as stated in Step 7.

Thanks for the update:) I was wondering if there is a way to code away the warning for the lights in the dashbord? It's a virtual cockpit cluster. And the car is always warning about broken position lights? Is there a way to tell the car that you don't want them there? Without plugging the lights back in? Like if you were to change the front bumper and wanted to completely remove the warning in the dash? Thanks again for helping out Don (and to everyone else helping me out)

OK, without the physical lamps plugged-into the wiring, generally follow my instructions above with these modifications: Leuchte12NL LB45 and Leuchte13NL RB5 - Lasttyp = nicht aktiv
- Lichtfunktion A = nicht aktiv
- Lichtfunktion B = nicht aktiv

Post-up a copy of your SCAN report, so I can see the specifics of the error.
To digitize the SCAN report - do this: - Fire-up OBD11 software on your iPhone (no need to connect to the car/dongle)
- On the Home screen - Select the Garage tab on the lower left side of the screen
- Select the car if you have multiple vehicles registered against your OBD11 account
- On the car's information screen - scroll-down the list of options and select History
- The next screen contains the change database information AND records about every other action that you have selected with the OBD11 software (including SCANs and Back-up files and lots more)
- In order to make it easier to review a particular category of data records (like just the SCAN report), it's possible to filter the information and it's also possible to digitize these records and to send it to yourself via an email account - to do this, follow my visual instructions below:

hmm...... OK - the "signature lights" (which I assume are the 2 x lamps in the OEM bumper) are NOT controlled by the central electrics module on this car. So, the physical set-up on this car is different to the Audi in my database
Instead on this car - these lamps appear to be managed by Light Control Modules (LCMs). Unfortunately, OBD11 can't access coding in LCMs
