Hello, Sorry for asking what could be an easy question or possibly another “not possible” In North Carolina (USA) it’s state law that you have to switch on dipped beams when it’s raining, I guess in other states too, so is it possible to use the rain sensor to do this?
I’m hoping it’s an easy answer to make the “all weather lights” come on as I have managed to get these to work as cornering lights with steering angle and with indicators thanks to reading the forum posts but I have not seen how to use the rain sensor, except to auto close the windows.
FYI I have a 2019 A3 Quattro Cabriolet
Thanks for any help Simon

Simon: Hi. I'm guessing, but there is an adaptation channel in the central electrics module called Light sensor-HMI_Exterior_light_on_rain that has the factory setting not active. It looks like a likely candidate for experimentation - maybe give it a shot?
My hunch is that activating this channel then enables a bunch of further channels in the same module with the "Parent" name RLS_Lights_on_at_Rain. These channels are factory populated with values that I assume are appropriate.
Again, I'm not sure, but after you make my suggested change - perhaps go to the Rain/Light sensor control screen in the MMI (i.e. select car> Vehicle>left control button > Driver assistance > Rain sensor) - you might need to tick a box, maybe?
As you will understand by my words - this is ALL supposition (I'm guessing). Please provide your observations if you proceed

Hi Don,
As always thanks for the quick reply and suggestions. I did not try yet but I found using google you said this
To find the software switch - select adaptation - enter Assistance light functions into the search box and select Assistenzfahrlicht bei Regen (which translates to "Assistant driving lights in the rain") - change the value to active. If OBD11 asks for a security code, use 31347
To a similar question. I will have a look later today and see if I can work out either of the two ways.
Thanks and I’ll let you know.

Hi Don,
I found what you suggested and in fact it was already marked as active, as was the rain sensor in MMI.
I’m now thinking that maybe it is disabled in some other way as following some other things for the “all weather lights” I have managed to get them to work as cornering lights with and without the indicators, but failed with you explanation to get them to light using “Channel G” and reverse gear
To make the allweather lights illuminate when reverse gear is selected, do this: Leuchte13NL RB5 and Leuchte12NL LB45 • Lichtfunktion G - ONLY if the current value is nicht aktiv, change to Rückfahrlicht • Dimmwert GH - ONLY if the current value is 0, change to 100
The only thing I can see different is the value is reuckfahrlicht, but I’m guessing it’s the same.
Maybe my long coding adaptation skills are not strong
Any thoughts you may have on either issue would be welcome.

Simon: OK. As I said, my suggestion about rain activated all-weather lights was a guess- clearly not correct!!
I've had a good search through the entire adaptation channel database for the Audi A3 and I can't find a channel name that even looks close to this application.
Making coding changes on these modules is a reasonably powerful feature, but it does have its limitations! My hunch given both your and my work is that it just ain't possible - happy to be proven wrong!
As for your "reverse gear" problem, I suggest that you post-up the current values for one of the all-weather light Leuchte-sets. It doesn't matter which car-side - but I need to see ALL 19 x adaptation channels. You can post-up screen shots if this is easier

Simon: Thanks for the screenshots! So, If I'm reading your settings correctly - it looks like there has been an attempt (incorrectly made, alas) to include the All-weather lights into the high-beam function in addition to the reverse light facility! I suggest that you do this:
If you still want the high-beam function to operate with the All-weather lights.
Leuchte12NL LB45 & Leuchte13NL RB5 - Lichtfunktion C
- Leuchte12NL LB45 > Fernlicht links
- Leuchte13NL RB5 > Fernlicht rechts
- Lichtfunktion D > Lichthupe generell
- Dimmwert CD > 100
- Dimming Direction CD > maximize
- Lichtfunktion E > nicht aktiv
- Lichtfunktion F > nicht aktiv
- Dimmwert EF > 0
- Dimming Direction EF > maximize
- Lichtfunktion G > Rückfahrlicht
- Lichtfunktion H > nicht aktiv
- Dimmwert GH > 100
- Dimming Direction GH > maximize
If you don't want the high-beam function included in the All-weather lights, substitute the following into the above steps: - Lichtfunktion C > nicht aktiv
- Lichtfunktion D > nicht aktiv
- Dimmwert CD > 0

Hi Don,
Thanks for the quick response, I just bought the car at Christmas and I haven’t touched channels C and D so previous owner maybe.
It will check later to see if your suggestions work and I will report back.
Have a great weekend !!
Regards Simon
