Hi All,
I'm thinking of buying a device to allow me to work on my wife's Kodiaq. The event that has precipitated this, is the need to change the rear brake p[ads, so I need to wind the electric calipers back. However, I assume I'll use it for other things as time goes on! Could I ask, please, what level of device and pack you would recommend? Will the basic Nextgen device do the caliper wind-back, and how many "credits" would that cost me?
Thanks!

On a more general note, then, Can anyone explain how the "credits" work, please? If I (say) just plugged this thing in, and connected to the app to download the fault codes, would I need "credits" to do that? Or are they only needed for some of the more advanced options?

avocet : These are fundamental questions that have already been answered by OBD11 (both on the marketing material and on this forum).

Thanks,
I was hoping for more personal recommendations from actual DIY users, to be honest, though.
However, playing with it, it does seem to be the case that I can scan and share fault codes for zero credits.

The only exception is the one click apps which you have to pay for.
If you want to get more involved with your car then you need a pro license.
The ultimate plan is aimed at small garages / users who want to build there own apps.
With regards to what others are using it is very much about how much you want to do to your car and how much of the extra features are important to them so there will be lots of different answers.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I seem to have fallen flat on my face at my first attempt! I've connected the (basic) device, bought 10 credits, gone to "workshop", selected "brake pads replacement" and I just get a message saying "not supported"! (It's a 2017 UK-spec 2 litre 150 bhp DSG 4x4 Kodiaq). Do I need the "pro" subscription to do this?

Well, it's been a long evening, but I'm sorted now! I installed the app on another phone (my original is a hand-me-down from the kids, and is a bit old and glitchy anyway). It worked like a charm! Samsung Galaxy S7 (was the one it worked on). Maybe worth a shot in your case? The only thing they don't tell you, however, is that it's 10 Credits to open the brake calipers, and then it's ANOTHER 10 credits to close them!
