Hey there!
What I'm looking to do is disable the "Please depress the brake to shift into Drive" message and gear shift lockout when trying to shift from Neutral to Drive when at a stop.
I'm sure that seems like an oddly specific request, but I think it's silly that this car requires the brake be depressed to shift from Neutral to Drive when on a level surface and at a stop.
Is there any way to do this?

The question about whether the message is odd is another matter - the car doesn't know if it's on level ground and even if it is, the car will start moving if the brake pedal isn't depressed. But I agree that these constant "nanny" messages can get mighty annoying
My guess is that the message can't be accessed by OBD11 - but there are a bunch of warning messages in the adaptation channels in the Gateway Module (@ address hex19) that can be turned ON/OFF. Search for Efficiency program display and you should see "Live-tip" options. I can't find your particular message in my car- but maybe it is on your module.
Again, I suspect this message is buried deep in the module firmware as a safety issue - but it's worth a try - I think!

Thanks for the response!
The message is less of a concern, I suppose. The key is disabling the shifter lock when in neutral at a stop, so that I can just throw it into Drive instead of having to re-apply the brake to shift.

Popping back in to follow up on this. I wasn't able to see anything that looked like it would address this within the gateway module adaptations. Does anybody have any other ideas?
The specific behavior I'm trying to modify here is the requirement to depress the brake to shift from neutral to drive. This is accompanied with a message, but the biggest issue is the shifter lockout that occurs.
Basically, I want to be able to shift to neutral at a stop and put the car back into drive without needing to press the brake.
