Anyone been able to turn the volume of the Soundaktor down on a Cupra Formentor? On connecting my OBD there is no option for A9 Structure Borne Sound. There is an option to look at the Gateway List coding where you can put a tick in the box for A9 Structure Borne Sound but when the tick button is pressed i get a Gateway List Coding Rejected message. As there are no Apps available is there any way to access the Soundaktor settings?

maypack : I'm certainly not an expert on Cupra, but I suspect that the engine sound on the car is not generated from a control module and an actuator that vibrates the windscreen (i.e. a soundaktor). I suspect instead that on your car, the engine sound is caused by the exhaust system - it's not an "artificial sound". Alas this means that OBD11 won't help - you will need to physically alter the resonators/pipe-arrangement on the exhaust system Don

I can confirm that the sound is artificial from a Soundaktor, exactly the same on my previous Leon Cupra 300.
The sound is a false sound inside the cockpit to make the car sound more intense, which in my Leon was a false and horrid sound.
I suspect the reason I can’t access the module is due to the new VAG restrictions on accessing vehicle coding on newer vehicles.

maypack : OK - if you say so !!! Don
PS : clearly the carbuyer website has made the same error as me - "The unique sound of the engine is played through four exhaust pipes, and there’s no artificial noise played through the cabin speakers."

Under power, the EA888's refined four-pot tone is easily recognisable and the soundtrack can be cycled through Comfort to Cupra modes. You can switch off the synthesised fakery if you prefer (it isn’t actually that offensive) even when the engine and gearbox are set to their most aggressive modes,
maypack, Firstly yes your car is protected by SFD but in theory this should not impact the synthesized fakery
Have you run a full scan (sometimes this will show a control unit even though you cant read it.
Secondly in obd11 settings do you have autocode gateway list set to SHOW.

dv52 (Australia) No offence meant. @testeronline I did run a full scan but no options I could see to turn off the Soundaktor. I assumed it would be module A9 as that’s what it was on my Leon Cupra. It’s funny that it shows there is a module A9 along with others but we can’t access it. Auto code gateway option to show was selected which gave me the list of all items (some ticked, some not, A9 being one not ticked). When I ticked it and selected confirm it did t like it and gave me an error. Ill have another look when I have more time.

maypack , its been a while since I played with the autocode gateway but from memory it would give you a popup of the missing and or incorrectly added control units, you screen shot shows all the control units and current status. If you look in your history at the full scan does it show control unit A9, its also rather odd to me that you have two Control Unit 75 (Telemetrics) and two control unit 82 Head up display As per my previous post have a look in you menu's to see if you can turn it down.
update from 2021 manual
Engine sound* Depending on the selected profile, it modifies the acoustic sensation in the vehicle's interior. Depending on the equipment, it also modifies the outside sound levels. It acts on several components of the vehicle to strengthen or weaken the engine and intake noise, as well as the noise from the exhaust system. The configuration is preset for each profile and can be modified in the Individual profile.
For added sense of occasion, you start the Formentor with a button hung from the steering wheel. Immediately the engine sounds raucous and purposeful, but that’s being amplified through the speakers. If that’s getting tiring, you can tell it to shush by cycling though the many modes – use the Cupra steering wheel button for that. There’s Comfort, Normal, Sport, Cupra and Individual settings to choose from, with the latter letting you tailor the drivetrain’s mood, steering weight, and endlessly fiddle with the ride comfort by altering a sliding scale. It feels terribly scientific.
and you are not alone
It’s a very easy car to go extremely fast in, though the overdubbed engine noise in Cupra mode might get on your wick after a while.

As for your "funny" observation -it ain't odd at all (at least not humorous to me)! The list of modules that you show on your first post, first screen is NOT particular to your car; the same screen appears on lots of (ALL?) VAG vehicles.
What it shows is the list of available module addresses for the standard CAN Networks in VW/Audi/Seat/?? cars. Importantly, the fact that there is an A9 entry on this screen means nothing about the existence/absence of this module on your car. However, what is of significance on your car is the fact that the A9 entry is not ticked (from the factory, I assume) AND of lesser importance is the fact that when you tick the module, an error is reported. In the normal world of MQB platform vehicles with which I'm more familiar, this strongly suggests that the module isn't present - but you say otherwise, so I must accept your hypothesis!!

dv52 (Australia) it may be they have done this in a different way so that the old A9 is no longer relevant, time will tell. Dont have a Cupra in my garage so not a lot i can do apart from read stuff on the webb (with all the issues that can cause) The funny (odd) part of my comment is in relation to duplicate entries which I don't recall seeing before (not to say its not always been there) I have some testing to do as the error message and list due to auto code is new to me from when I tested this stuff a long time ago but we have had a lot of releases since so entirely possible.
Update I have done some testing today and confirmed that if you add (A9) in this case and say you want the autocode process to work, it just removes the control unit because its not valid. If you add the control unit and say no dont want to autocode then it accepts the control unit but its marked in Black and gives you error message if you try and open it saying the control unit is not responding.
On my car there are no duplicates shown so this is a bug as is the error message you got but I will raise that in the relevant thread.

maypack, when you have a bit of free time can you please contact support directly via the in app help function and ask your profile to be able to do an error report. You will end up with three dots on the top right of your screen, you run a scan then press the three dots and put some text like Cant see control unit A9 reported as per ignas. Then the boffins at OBD11 Can double check if it should be showing the control unit. Cheers Ron

maypack this morning I noticed that release 34.1 rolled out at last to me. If you have not upgraded you should do that first and try again and see if you can see control unit A9 as this update was supposed to allow you to see some previously identified missing control units.

Haven’t heard anything back to allow me to do an error report
However
A9 Structure Borne Sound now appears and the Adsption to change the sound volume is available. That’s the end of the good news because when I change the volume from 100% to any other value and I press/hold the green tick, I get an error message saying try again.
Nearly there.

Well that's good news, in as much as we all thought there was a sound device. When you have some time can you post up a picture of the error message and i will try and get it looked at. Re the error reporting do you have the three dots (top right of the screen)
If you do then you can directly report.
If you dont then please be so kind as to post up a picture and i will raise it with support.

The Info screen for A9 which I presume shows one fitted as there is a hardware reference available. The message I get when trying to change the volume from 100% to anything else is shown below. It’s pretty basic and not much help. I also do not have the 3 dots so cant error report direct from the screen.
