vernerbongo2 to add a picture / file to the post select the Reply button (top right of post screen) This will open a new screen and will have buttons on top to add picture and or file. Re the odx file question, I am afraid I am only guessing here but will ask support just in case they can help us. But if I look at my engine control unit I get the following detail under Advanced ID so it appears my car is currently using version 001006 When I select the Change button on the Info screen I get this which implies there is a version 001007 and at the same time the Version number is correctly shown as 001006
so to me it appears to be like the Software version where it just shows you there is a later release of the ODX File.

I don't know how I missed the add attachment tab 😂 So you're basically saying it's just showing you the updated current ODX file for a visual reference only? Confusing as some modules current software version says beside it "New version exists" which means you know volkswagen have to do it. I was concerned if I tapped on the "change" it would actually update my module and possibly muck everything up 🤔

I have a call out to support but we wont get an answer to early next week but with regards to your pictures.
You are correct currently OBD11 Looks in there database and compares (from memory) Software number and then if there is another owner with higher version number then it will show it here. There is currently no actual upgrade service its just telling you that a new version exits (which can impact some coding if you dont have the correct version.
If you click on the Change button then it will open up like my screen above, dont see any way that it could update anything but I will confirm how its decided when support confirm.

Afraid still dont have feedback from support but got this today on the IOS Release
- Users can now select older vehicle database files (ODX files) for control units in order to access and interpret control unit data, that might have been removed from newer files (in eg. Battery capacity for Audi e-Tron);

So in my case the reversal, I can look at what data changes the newer modules have. I can't see how to do that though, if I click on change I don't see any change. To be honest it doesn't sound useful anyway.
Thanks tester online

No problem, chased up support this morning and got the following ME - on both Android and IOS you now have the ability to change the ODX File, does this update the file on the car or just how its used by the OBD11 Software Support - This is a possibility created for developers. Normally you don't need to make that change. Me - appreciate that but we are trying to understand what it actually does for the Users or is it (for now) just an information that different versions are availiable Support - It's just information in different files (XML). The Open Diagnostic eXchange format (ODX) is an XML-based ASAM standard for describing diagnostically relevant ECU data. Vehicle, ECU and tester manufacturers can use the uniform, OEM-independent ODX format to describe and exchange ECU diagnostic data. Me - Thanks, bottom line it does not change the car settings just how OBD11 Talks to the car is that correct Support - That's correct. It's a different format to work easier with different programs.
Further update from Aurimas this morning,
You don't need to change anything if everything is working properly. These files describe how OBD11 will scan the information. Toey do not change anything in the car itself.

Appreciate the effort there Testeronline A wee bit technical & over my head but the main thing is it can't actually change anything on our modules. Thanks again 👌
