New IOS OBDeleven owner here, for a 2019 Audi S5 Sportback.
Is it (1) safe, (2) wise, or (3) useful, to leave the OBDeleven plugged in at all times in my car?
Any worries about running down the vehicle battery if it is left plugged in while car is off, for extended periods (days/weeks)?
While driving, is any dynamic information available to the app, that might be useful to display (Boost pressure, coolant temp, oil temp, instantaneous MPG, etc.)?
Can the app log any data while driving?
Thanks!

Generally: I tend to forget OBD11 from time to time. That does not harm when disconnecting and closing the app properly.
Practically: Almost killed my Battery with a Gen1 Dongle. Did some coding, but then get out in a hurry. The next day, the Keyless was off and the starter hat a really rough time starting the car. Seems like at least one control unit did not go to sleep and draw a lot of current overnight.

I never have a problem with it. I have the older android dongle. I saw one time on here where an admin replied to the question and said it draws very little current, not enough to kill battery. I have left mine plugged in for 2 years. Car starts strong every time. Just my experience.

It isnt the obd11 drawing too much current(as said, I tend to forget it for days sometimes), but control units not shutting down when the diagnosis isnt closed properly and obd11 is still in place and communicating, as control units draw in the scale of amperes, this will flat you battery in some hours.
So might work 99,99% of time, but I personally do not want to be the 0,01% guy. To close this loop: you are gaining nothing from leaving it plugged besides the 15 seconds to find it and to plug it in. Starting the app and Connecting needs way more time

I dont understand, why simply obd11 dont close whole communication after time period, or while it is not connected to app/device.

My OBDeleven dongle is left permanently plugged in, and my car is left parked for a week with no issues restarting
