Hi people, Am new to this thing but thought i still seek assistance. I was making changes to my car to achieve Light Assist through these steps >> www.golfmk7.com/forums/index.php?threads/finally-got-high-beam-assist-light-assist-working.335502/But in the process where i am to make changes at Byte 2 under Central Electronics i clicked the wrong bits and saved the changes by accident. Turns out, this is the first time something has happened to me when i had not taken a screenshot of how it was originally configured. I now have Light Assist and Dynamic Bend Lighting in my infotainment system but i doubt its working and i am also worried that i might have messed up something under this byte hence would like to change it to "Bi-Xenon with Light Assist" accordingly. OBDeleven has no descriptors under this byte making it highly confusing. Anyone with a 2015 MK7 Golf Variant Highline could assist by capturing their Central Electrics > Byte 2. The vehicle is equipped with Bi-Xenons with Light Assist (assumption since i notice them swivel up and down and side to side at startup). Screenshot of what my Byte 2 looks like is as below. drive.google.com/file/d/17jzh65H2FiIblANlboiLwBuAWaLyN751/view VIN: WVWZZZAUZFPxxxxxx Car: Volkswagen Golf SportWagen Year: 2015 Body type: Variant Engine: CHPA 103 kW (140 HP) 1.4 l Mileage: 106976 KM Thanks guys!

^^^^ Paul: No need to guess the old value of Byte 2, or to ask others for this information because the clever folk @ VOLTAS IT (the parent company for OBD11 devices) have foreseen the type of error that you have made (no offense intended for calling this an "error" - IMHO, errors are good, they are great learning environments). Actually, there is nothing particularly special about OBD11 in this regard - ALL diagnostic cables have the same facility. So - I suspect that you are not aware that a record is kept of every change that is made with your OBD11 dongle (including the "before" and "after" values). It's stored in the History option in the software against your account - and you don't even need to connect to the dongle to access these records!
Here's a visual instruction of how to find what changes you made: You don't necessarily need to send your self a digital copy of the full history file, perhaps just work through the first 2 x screens and then scroll through the records on the right-hand-side of the second screen Don PS: For completeness, here are the settings for Byte 2, Bits 0-2 on the long-code for the module @ address hex09 (which OBD11 calls Central electrics, but which is better known as the BCM):
Byte 2, Bits 0-2 - Advanced Highbeam control
Halogen=hex0
Halogen_main_beam_assist=hex1
Xenon_AFS=hex2
Xenon_AFS_and_main_beam_assist=hex3
Bi-xenon_AFS=hex4
Bi-xenon_AFS_and_main_beam_assist=hex5
Bi-xenon_AFS_and_MDF_GLW= hex6
Your setting for Bits 0-2 in your screenshot are hex7 (i.e. 111)- I'm not sure what this means!!
PPS: AFS, (Advanced Frontlighting System) = dynamic cornering light (Initialisation for the cornering light CAN bus) Main beam assist = Assistance system which supports the driver when changing from main beam to low beam headlights, in order to prevent dazzling other road users

dv52 (Australia) you are great man! Very helpful and clear in your assistance. I managed to get everything back to stock and now i have two new options under the Lights menu namely (1) Light Assist and (2) Adaptive Front Lighting which i have both checked but i am yet to test them in the dark. I have also done the other configurations for the speeds and the angles etc to get both systems working. However, i am confused as somewhere in the long coding i came across the setting "Main Beam Assist". What is the difference of this configuration to the other two mentioned above? Also, AFS is supposed to the system that turns the H7 bulbs in the main housing when i turn the steering? I am confused as i tried it and it wasn't working. Could it be affected by the Fog Lights (Both Left and Right) as they come on on steering or indicator stalk input? Thanks

paul: well done and thanks for the kind words. Yes, it is kind-of confusing - lots for TLAs (Three Letter Acronyms)floating around which often mean the same thing.
However, just because you have enabled the software switches in long code doesn't mean that the lighting function will work - alas. Your car also needs to have the requisite equipment physically installed too. For example, both Main-beam assist (light assist) and Dynamic light assist (Adaptive Front Lighting) use a front facing camera that's installed behind the windshield (in the cabin next to the rear vision mirror) to detect the presence of on-coming vehicles. Also required for these functions are the headlight range control module (J745). And, for AFS to operate correctly, the CAN bus needs to operate a set of variable "shutters" inside the high-beam fitting. What happens in this instance is that the front facing camera actually tracks the route of on-coming vehicles and the shutters (and the range control module) rise and fall in front of the high beam lamp as the on-coming vehicles cross the path of your car. So, lots of stuff happens - through additional equipment,
As for your fog lights - it sounds like your car has what's called "Static AFS" - this is a much simpler form of (true) AFS where the fogs (which are aimed sideways) are switched-on based on the reading from the steering wheel angle detector (G85).
I'm not sure what type of equipment is installed in your car - make sure that it's compatible with your settings (I thought that the task in your first post was to restore the original settings only)
