Hello, Once before I already did a transmission reset and everything went fine. Yesterday I tried doing it again using the app, but ran into an issue. At first it said "Working", and I kept waiting for approx 10-15 minutes until I killed the app. Now it just stops the reset and says to turn the engine off and try again each and every time. I tried the reset with the engine off and it said "successful", took the credits and once I started the car it did some of the clutch engagements and all that for a few seconds, and that's it. How do I know the transmission actually reset? Tried reinstalling the app, but that also did not help.

While performing reset, did you feel any movement from transmission? I believe if it did reset, it should throw a couple of fault codes in Auto Trans. control module (hex 02). They should go away by clearing the error codes. If I were you, I'd probably try doing it once again with vagcom, just to be sure the reset is actually done.

Hi ....., DO NOT USE THE APPLICATION FOR ADJUSTMENT OF CHANGE.
We don't really know what this application does or does in change.
Do it from the Control Unit hex 02 - Shift Electronics
- Basic change settings
This option is in second place, at least in my menu, with this option the change is adjusted and no other options are needed. Obviously if you want you can execute them.
You will notice noise in the change, do not worry, keep in mind that the engine must be running, but not very hot, between 30 degrees and 100 degrees Celsius.
The engine idling and not accelerating, but running.
You have to keep the lever in the "P" position - Parking at all times.
You have to have the auxiliary (hand) brake activated and you have to be depressing the brake pedal during the whole process ..., it is important that you do not release the brake pedal.
When the process is finished, you turn off the engine, close the car and wait about 15 minutes; after the time you start it again and scan with OBDeleven and delete if you have any failures.
*** I do not advise you to use VCDS (Vagcom), to restart the automatic transmission again, serious problems may occur if the process with OBDeleven has not finished well.
Hey, are you sure the engine needs to be ON? I Cant find a definite answer anywhere. there are places where it says the engine needs to be ON and other places say the engine needs to be off.

Engine has to be on, foot brake depressed throughout the whole process as well as handbrake engaged. You should not touch the throttle while process is undergoing.
Btw, I don't see how resetting with vagcom would pose any more risk than using OBD11 since process already failed, especially if OP drove the car ever since the failed reset? Not that I want encourage anyone to use vagcom over OBD11, I just like using vagcom for mechanical stuff although the procedure should be similar.

Hi Yes, I am absolutely sure that the engine must be running and running on a racket, so that the change can be reset and adjusted. If the engine is "off", the automatic transmission is not running, which, of course, cannot be adjusted correctly with respect to the load request made by the engine when it is revolutionized and asks for the double clutch to actuate and of the adjustment of the other parts and components of the mechanics of the automatic transmission. Yes, the motor must be safely running for the adjustments to be made correctly. Among other things it is required that the lever is in the "Parking" position, the auxiliary brake blocking the car and the fundamental thing, the foot brake pressed and not released, and the engine must be idling; If, for example, at the time of making the adjustments the engine increases in revolutions, the process will fail.
Thats new for me, Will definitely give it a shot. Why not use the App tho? i cant seem to get the basic setting started by entering manually to the TCU and choosing basic setting of transmission

Just for my info, if the car has had a TCU Map applied to it would i be correct in assuming that the reset will take it back to the TCU Settings and not the original factory settings.

Thanks for that then logically factory reset for a modified car is back to start settings (eg how the tuner set it)

^^^ any tuner that even half knows his/her craft will have taken a copy of the original memory address locations and values from the modules that were modified. Assuming that you know the identity of the tuner, it should be possible to reload the original OEM firmware.

Hello, I did find the setting and the location you specified, however I can't really change anything there, nor can I "write" it. It shows an error (link to screenshot: i.imgur.com/NRhEovZ.jpg)

But the process was a bit weird. If the first time I did it while the engine was on, this time the only way I could make it work was while only the ignition was on. It said that the reset was completed successfully, and when I started the engine I heard and felt all the clutch movements and all that. And I did read and reset the codes after. What troubles me is that the reset refuses to go through with all the conditions as specified, i.g the engine being on, at the very least. When engine is on it stops with an error worded something like "make sure the engine is on and repeat the action".

Don dv52 (Australia) Agreed my tuners do have the stock settings of the gearbox but i have heavily modified engine and gearbox so wanted to make sure that when running the basic settings it would set it back to modified start level and not to stock car stock level.
Hope that makes sense

Maybe try clearing them and see if you can perform the reset afterwards. The engine should be on while performing the reset.

Hi OP there seems to be an issue with Obdeleven when it comes to resetting transmission
It used to work before but of late like you said, it will say turn off ignition and when you turn it on then the resetting kicks in and confirms that the process successful
Which I find quite strange

Hello, one question reguarding on/ off. I have a Golf GTE(hybrid). Is it ok just to turn the car on (it always start in electric mode) as long as the transmission fluid is hot enough? Or does the petrol engine need to be running?
