I have no idea about that that specific "mod", but have you tried activating "front_field_light" which is used for puddle lights, again I dont know where your cables are tapping power from.
Module 42&52 - Long coding -- Change "Front_field_light" from not_active to active

Hi Bert
Some conections of the golf mk7 and his codifications are not similars in the facelift models. do you have any map of the conections or graphic. What is your data source for this mod?
In YouTube I could see two videos that explain the procedure.
in modules 42 and 52 activate byte 1, bit 2. Exit door light.
the conexiones are. Red wire positive to pin 16. Brown wire to pin 5. If the pin is in use, added the wire.

^ Yes puddle light are activated by "front_field_light". Do you have puddle lights installed on your vehicle? What is the hardware number on your door modules?(You can find it under "info" on both modules)

What is the hardware number on your door modules?(You can find it under "info" on both modules) I don't have a puddle light installed. I bought it to install. I would just like to obtain the necessary information for this: which pins connect the positive and negative. Following is the module information: DRIVE DOOR > System Description: TSG FS - Identifier: J386 - Hardware Number: 5Q0959393b - Hardware Version: 020 - Software Number: 5Q0959393E. PASSENGER DOOR > System description: TSG BFS - Identifier: J387 - Hardware number: 5Q0959592B - Hardware version: 020 - Software number: 5Q0959592E. Please, whoever can give a hand there, thank you very much.

^^
I can only help you on the passenger side because its the high line door module. The door module on Driver side doesnt have the extra power pin for the puddle light.
on the Passenger door module mirror harness Pin 1: Puddle light power Pin 3: Ground for puddle light and mirror heater.
For the Driver door module I cannot help you since its the "low" line version If you do decide to upgrade the Driver door module make sure it ends with 593b, do not buy 592b because that is only for passenger side Low line: 5Q0959 393 b High line: 5Q0959 593 b
maybe someone else can help you find a way to splice into another wire for the driver side. other wise I recommend the module upgrade, Before you replace the door module make sure to do a backup of your original door module just in case the new/refurbished module is "incorrectly" coded Also you will need to re-calibrate the window motor for the automatic one tap open/close function, very easy procedure which takes no longer than few seconds.

Guys, I would like to thank everyone who contributes and helps those in need, with phenomenal tips and guidance. I am available for those who want some help too. Light configurations that I have already managed to make successfully and that is working perfectly like the original:
# Front_Field_Light = External courtesy light under the external mirror (illuminates the floor) - positive on pin 1 and negative on pin 3 of the 16-pin connector. (successfully installed).
# Door_Exit_Light = turn on the light when opening the door (lights the floor so as not to put your foot in a "puddle" when leaving the car) - positive on pin 16 and negative on pin 5 of the 32-pin connector. (successfully installed).
# Inside_Door_Handle_Light = Lights on the door handles - positive pin 3 and negative pin 5 of the 32-pin connector. (Did not work) .
# Ambiente_Light = LED strips on door panels and door sill - positive on pin 8 and negative on pin 5 of the 32-pin connector. (Did not work).
Guys, I would like help to successfully install Inside_Door_Handle_Light and Ambiente_Light. I already activated the long coding in the 5F module but the two lights did not work. What is missing to code correctly? Thank you very much

Could it be down to what door module you have? Or central electronics module as I think it needs to end in + to have ambient lights

My hardware version is 010 and number is 5q495953E, but mine came with factory ambient, does your central electronics module end with a + (pretty sure that’s what denotes ambient)

(successfully installed). Hello Thanks eli and everyone who have contributed on this topic. I got a second hand 2020 Golf GTI MK7.5 NAR (North America), and by luck the car already had the high line module, with all pins in place. I guess VW needs to use the high line when the car comes equiped with heated mirrors and blind spot indicator - just a guess. For the record, the module is a 5Q4 959 593K - I'm listing it here for future people, because I could not find any info, anyhwere, about this module. Today I took the endeavor of adding puddle light (under the mirror light) and exit door lights to the driver door. I'm slow and careful, and I try to make the job look as OEM as possible, took me 5 hours total, one door. No joke. I was not smart enough to figure out how to remove the mirror assembly from the door, so I got it hanging from the harness at the door and got all the job done there, including cutting the whole for the light under the mirror. I almost gave up on the puddle light when trying to pass 2 wires through the mirror arm along with the original harness, it was too tight! It probably took me 2 hours, maybe a bit more, just to get one single wire through - in no way I could make 2 pass there, and that was the positive wire. I used the mirror heater ground. The pins listed here worked for both harnesses, the 16 pin one (mirror harness) and the 32 one (main door harness). I hope it takes me less time to make the passenger door. PS. I might have spent 30 minutes or so fixing the mirror cap tabs, I broke one of them when I was removing it. Nothing that a piece of zip tie and super glue couldn't handle

Guys, does anyone know if there is any way to regulate the brightness of the light under the rear view mirror (puddle light)? Thanks to anyone who can help. I don't think you can. I bought an OEM looking light at AliExpress, it has a circuit board with the leds that you can see through the lens. I think it's all controled by the main module, but I've never seen any setting that allows toying with the brightness of that specific light. You could add some resistors to the wire that feeds the light and see if you can reduce the light output that way. But you'll have to test it out, as I don't know how that board handles the low voltage.

And yesterday I did the passenger door.
It was a lot easier because I found a video that explained how to correctly remove the mirror and its harness from the car. But getting the wire through was still a pain.
