Can someone explain usage of new EEPROM function? Is there some an for apps that will also include EEPROM reprogramming?

See here: forum.obdeleven.com/post/28092I don't think that there will be apps that change the EEPROM in the near future. If you want to code with EEPROM you should really know what you're doing.

Thanks for reply.
But still I don't understand how to use it.
It is very powerful function, and many truly advanced upgrades for equipment can be done utilizing it. For instance, Traffic Jam Assist is known to be possible to be enabled by loading/upgrading from camera EEPROM (which basically upgrades camera firmware) by VCP. So we can expect same to be achievable by OBD11 if community gets the grab on this feature.
Yet, as you said, it is also very dangerous as unskilled user can mess sensors/modules firmware. So we would also need some additional functionality here, like backup/restore etc.
BTW we are also lacking much of easy ergonomic backup/restore/revert functions for existing codings. So I don't expect too much but I really hope there will be enough to get EEPROM programming effective.

It is effective if you know what you're doing It's the same as normal coding. OBDeleven gives you access but you have to know what to do. Check out some VCP stuff and learn how to properly edit the EEPROM.

Well I programmed lot of EEPROMs in decades in many industry applications. Yet never seen such UI so I just asked for users manual and not on general theoretical principles and philosophy.
But thank you anyhow - for nothing.
I find more help on third-party forums then here. Sadly.

Well i can't read your mind If you know how to programm it's perfect. But if you've already worked on EEPROMs on cars you should understand the UI imo. If i remember correctly you just need to enter the hex adress you want to read and the length. Keep in mind this is a user forum. We moderators are just normal guys like everyone else here. We're doing this in our free time and sometimes we can't help more.

Thank you for feedback. Yes I figured out that we can probably read the EEPROM content (starting and length). But I don't see any option to write into it.

Than you for reminding me to this very unusual forum rule I never seen anywhere else.
Yet, it is very important for users to read that I broke this rule and none of mediators have answered basic questions on product documentation and usage.
Once again: how to use EEPROM function (besides obvious reading of memory)?

No need to be sarcastic Once again we don't have more information on this! I talked to the support and told them that we need more information on this to make a guide on the forum. Once the feature is going public (it's beta only atm) i hope we'll get the information. I'm sorry that i can't help you more with this :/

But I don't see any option to write into it. This seems to still be a work in progress. The developers will most likely post a tutorial when it is ready.

hello, I would have a question about EEPROM. I would like to read the EEPROM instrument cluster (and save with .bin) so that I can modify it externally and then return it modified again. possible..?

I don't think OBDeleven has implemented such functionality as yet. In the interim, you can use any variant of a tool called AVDI to do what you say by placing the instrument cluster in Service Mode, then you can read the EEPROM and save it as you want. The other option I used is to connect pins to the EEPROM directly (via a clip) and use a reader to grab dump the EEPROM. This process requires removing the instrument cluster and taking it apart to get to the EEPROM chip.

Should really know what you're doing to use eeprom but can't offer no guidance into learning how to use the features on the eeprom function they added to there product.

Yes we all know what you can do with it the question is how do you do it with the OBD11 Interface. You video just shows the folding mirror not the way you coded it using OBD11
