Hi there!! Is there any option/plan to update your services with firmware updates for the supported cars? Unfortunately many dealers hates the updates because costs time/money. The only way to get updates for your car is to refer a problem so the dealer has to plug in to the car and apply any updates it might has. I think this business has potential and of course you can charge it at the same way as now with one-touch-apps. I hope to see this update in the near future. From my side it's interesting to see other user's opinion regarding. Thank you, Pan.

And where would you get the firmwares from?

Through OBD11 payable with credits. I suppose that at least uncritical firmware updates (for example the infotainment system) its easy. I think that it's feasible for all other controllers because already we have the hardware to communicate with the car. Just thoughts for future extensions.....

Hello, I join your request, especially since the app already indicates if there is a newer version of firmware.

No I mean where should you download them from, as dealers get them from the German servers (which they pay for the service) and then the german server then resets the options on your car after

I presume you are talking about OBD11 Dongle Firmware.
So OBD11 android and IOS app version you will get a red bar at the bottom of the screen showing there is an update available.
You have no choice but to hit the Update button and the android version will be updated via a download.
The Dongle Firmware update will (when you are connected to the car) produce a white alert box telling you something like there is a update and you need to keep the device and car up and running for x minutes (normally 15). This will then download the update to your dongle.
Hope that helps.

For module firmware, as in software updates for the car itself it's a little more complex. There are regular updates for most models for infotainment, engine ecu, inst cluster etc. It is possible to do outside of the VW network (as with Audi component protection) but I'm not sure if the team are willing to go there. It would be a nice feature though.

I join in. The OBDeleven app does notify me there are several updates available for some modules. So the question is where does the app get this information from? If the app knows there is a update available the there should be a source, right. I do understand that/if the devs aren't willing to implant a update feature but as the app knows there is a update then maybe they could make it possible to retain those updates manually so the end user could update (for example) their mib by sdcard.

The actual firmware files themselve *.* STT / *.*SGO are the property of VAG and Delphi, Bosch, etc. OBDeleven will not get authorization to use those as they are the Intellectual Property from various sources. There are legal issues if someone flashes the "wrong" file on an ABS module and it does something unexpected at the wrong time. When I get home, I'll post the link to the tor rent I used for all those files for those who feel brave enough to apply the updates. Use VCP / ODIS or AVDI to apply the flashes. Keep the battery connected to another car via jumper cables or use a good 30+ Amp battery maintainer. When your ECU and transmission drop below 12 volts, they switch off during a flash resulting in a brick (if you can't access bootloader mode via JTAG or some other means).

This obd11 feature is causing more problems that help.
It is a very simple process they just compare your hardware / software version numbers and if they find another car with same hardware but higher software then you see that little message.
They (OBD11) are only doing a compare, they dont have any software.

Greetings,
I'm just seeing your e-mail. I'll check my records and get back to you. In the interim, if there is a specific SGO/FRF/STT file that you are looking for, I could e-mail that file to you. You would have to have a tool like ODIS or VCP to flash it (at your own risk or bricking the module).

can a vw dealership update them to the latest official update from volkswagen in the safest way Most definitely, this is the best way to ensure that nothing gets bricked in the process. It appears the t0r rent link I had used in the past was finally taken down. I'll keep looking in the interim if there are others that could be used.

I recently had my VW Golf 1.5 R line serviced at a VW main dealer garage, I requested that my infotainment system to be updated. On collecting my car I was assured that all updates had been completed. Using my recently purchased OBD Eleven I have discovered that my infotainment system was not updated. I'm starting to wonder if VW mechanics know how to do this, or maybe they don't want too...

They surely don't want to do it as it costs time. You must have good relations with the electrician. The car manufacturers have a line. If a unit doesn't create errors and faults, you don't mess with it.

They won’t fix what isn’t broken If you have the discover pro you can update them yourself via sd card tho, others are a bit more complicated
