I'm not sure what happened, but I think this update or the update before this one broke something with my OBDeleven device.
My phone had the latest app, but my car mounted tablet would keep in a version until it began refusing connecting. Recently, my phone app updated, and it began having issues connecting (i.e. wouldn't connect at all, would only get stuck in "Connecting..."), but my car tablet was still working flawlessly, in the outdated version.
Today the tablet app refused to connect unless updated, so I updated the car tablet app. Now OBDeleven won't connect to any of the devices.
Here's what happens: I connect the OBDeleven device on the car with ignition on Then I pair the OBDeleven device After paired, I open the OBDeleven app and press connect. It begins connecting. The OBDeleven device slowly begins flashing a green light, after a short while, it begins flashing it frenetically.
Normally this meant it was about to successfully connect and I'd shortly see the car info on the display, or it would ask which car is it connecting to, from the cars in my "garage".
Now it just keeps flashing quickly, while the main button keeps spinning with "Connecting...", never timing out (I've waited 30 minutes). Sometimes it even ends up asking which car I want connect to, but ultimately ends stuck in "Connecting...". If I cancel the connection in the app, the green light on the OBDeleven device would still keep flashing like if it was still trying to connect. If I try reconnecting it on OBDeleven app, it will say that the OBDeleven hasn't been found. If I try to remove the OBDeleven pairing, sometimes it just ignores it and does nothing, but it I unpair, I cannot pair it again because the OBDeleven device doesn't show up anymore (while it still flashes like crazy on the OBD2 port). The only way to connect it again is to physically remove and reinsert the OBDeleven device, after that it's pairable again.
I'd think the OBDeleven device is faulty, but I remember having this same issue on the phone, but not on the tablet with an older version. Now that both devices are using the same version, they're both experiencing the same issue
I've sent an error report at around 17:30 GMT-3.
I can run any test or try out anything, in order to find the root of this issue.

I'm not sure what happened, but I think this update or the update before this one broke something with my OBDeleven device.
I use OBDeleven in two Android devices, my phone and my car-mounted tablet. My phone had the latest app, as it updated freely, but my car mounted tablet would keep in the same version until it began refusing connecting. Recently, my phone app updated to some beta version, and it began having issues connecting (i.e. wouldn't connect at all, would only get stuck in "Connecting..."), but my car tablet was still working flawlessly in the "outdated" version. I believe it was either 0.9.8 something before 0.9.8.3
Today the tablet app refused to connect unless updated, so I updated the car tablet app. Now OBDeleven won't connect to any of the devices.
Here's what happens: I connect the OBDeleven device on the car with ignition on Then I pair the OBDeleven device After paired, I open the OBDeleven app and press connect. It begins connecting. I've sent an error report at around 17:30 GMT-3 and around 19:00 GMT-3. The latter I left at "connecting..." for a good half hour or so.

Hi, I tried to connect the app in my mobile, then I got please update the apps, I did proceed to update, downloading update bar is showed till 100%, after that nothing happened, no error messages neither succesfully update message, when I tried to connect again I got the same message for update apps. Current software version I have is 0.9.7. I tried to download directly from Google Play Store but did not find it, maybe because is not available to my country?,
Any idea?, somebody can send me the current / updated version directly to my mail?. Luis

Short update: after letting it at "connecting..." for about an hour or so, it connected to the car. I could use the modules normally and with the usual speed. I've set some settings and noticed the changes, so the dongle is working as expected.
I sent the logs afterwards, and they were seemingly huge, as I could see from network usage the upload speed at around 400kb/s for 20-30 seconds
I then disconnected the app from the dongle (by double clicking back) then clicked to connect. Once again it's stuck in "Connecting..."
I'm pretty sure something is wrong with the app

Hi Support team, any feedback?, I read some similar incident to the mine: "Latest Android Update, Wont connect or login" Please be a bit more patient. I know that it's frustrating but i can tell you that the devs are reading all the reports and they'll do their best to fix all issues. Have you tried clearing your app cache or reinstall the app? You can download the app apk here: www.obdeleven.com/application/OBDeleven.apk

I downloaded and I am able to open it now version 0.9.8.4. My only concern if is this is beta version since the latest version for Beta users is the same. Could you confirm if this 0.9.8.4 is beta or is the official current version?

Letting it at "Connecting..." for literal hours either crashes the OBDeleven app or it connects and works flawlessly. Disconnecting the dongle and reconnecting it while the app is stuck on "Connecting..." gets the app unstuck, as it displays my car info, VIN, modules etc, but I can't use anything because it says the module isn't responding (ofc, I broke the dongle connection). I can't even see the voltage, and the dongle sits idle with the red light and faint pulsating yellow light
I think something is off with the app or some recognition for my car. Is there a way to use an outdated version in this case? It was working before.
Thanks

Is 0.9.8.4 a beta version? If it is,then why is it pushed to the playstore and updating people that are not beta testers? Surely if a release is in the playstore then it should be a final release, not a beta release unless people are specifically signed up to get beta test versions If the version is available for non beta testers then it's no beta version. I'm sorry if you thought that because of my last post here. I corrected it. No problem, this is not your fault
There is confusion because this version is in the beta section and is still being discussed and people seem to be having problems with it,but it has been put on the play store as the latest version so its listed here as beta but on the playstore as new version
This should not happen because i think there seems to be problems with this version

Could you confirm if this 0.9.8.4 is beta or is the official current version? If it's available on the playstore for non beta testers it's official. The "for beta testers" forum is more like a general bug report thing. All versions are listed there doesn't matter if it's a beta or not. I'll contact one of the board mods/devs to change the title.Done

I've noticed that my thread was merged with this one, so I'll just post updates here. I found a way to connect consistently, though with a few bugs: - Car turned on or with ignition on - Press Connect - Wait 20 seconds with the "Connecting..." - Turn car/ignition off for 5 seconds - Turn ignition on - OBDeleven will then connect However I noticed a couple of bugs: Some unavailable control units, such as Adaptive Cruise Control (It's a VW Up without Cruise Control) or Quattro/4Motion (VW R-Up? lol) shows up either green or yellow in the control units list Also there are a couple of duplicate control units with Yellow circle, without any fault. Dunno what that means, but I'm guessing OBDeleven couldn't fully connect to it as I turned the ignition off.
I'm guessing this might've something to do with the new gateway thing? It might be bugged.
Thanks
-------------------------------------------------------------
I think I tried this new gateway thing. Is that the red button with a pencil on it, on the Control modules list? It used to not work for me, but now when I clicked it, it opened a list with a couple of control units to mark or unmark. I unmarked everything I surely knew I didn't have (such as headlight control) and left the ones I knew I had (such as Engine. I hope)
This popped up on the Central Electrics control module just after
Jesus. I didn't even select those modules. Luckily changes made to Central Electrics long coding were registered in the History menu, and I could copy the old long code and overwrite the mess. It then stopped throwing all these errors. However I seen that in History there's the "gateway" changes, but I couldn't find a way to restore those. I don't think my module supports it, though, so I guess that's a non-issue.
Perhaps something with the new gateway thing is messing up with my car. Maybe with cars that doesn't report it?
