Hi team!
Anyone have a lead on removing NAR lighting restrictions from North American facelift vehicles? I've seen guides on Mk7 vehicles, but some of the AFS settings seem to have migrated to module 4B so these guides don't work.
The one setting I found in 4B related to region change (ece/nar) caused a cascade of errors in lighting and adaptive cruise (all gone after reverting to stock setting).
Cheers

I just picked up a 2018 Golf R in Canada and would also love to know the answer to this.

What're the restrictions? Finally upgraded from my '04 GTI, so it all is light years better than before

I completely forgot about This! ::facepalm:: I have some OBDeleven things to work on tonight so I know I'll be messing around after work.
NAR restrictions won't allow fogs, lows and highs on at once. Also I believe it allows the AFS much more freedom of movement, although that could have been a different setting as I made a rookie mistake and changed a bunch of stuff before backing it up.

LED equipped cars don’t have fog lights so does this make any other difference other than allowing dogs on with high beams?

The option listed seems to just be about allowing the fog lights to be on at the same time as the high beams, but not about the NAR of limiting the motion of the headlights... right?
Do we know what the option is to free the headlights up to move more?

I'd like to know too, done a lot of searching but haven't found a concrete answer yet. If it increases the range of motion and/or allows them to elevate slightly at highway speeds that'd be great!

Now that I havent been able to figure out. What I believe is the correct change, going from NAR to ECE 191 (Not sure about that, its been a few weeks) will throw a headlight error. But then the basic settings wont be accepted for some reason. Im guessing another change has to be made as well as that one, but I have yet to figure it out sadly.

I was able to clear the headlight error by just holding the green circle on the basic settings and acknowledge settings screen, but it didn't last. Once I started the engine it wasn't long before the headlight error returned with 2 more errors for the front left and right turn signals. Front signals and cornering lights wouldn't turn on, mirror signals were hyper flashing, clicking from the blinkers was fast, but the rear signal was normal. 🤔 Several CAN errors in the ecu too, and an ACC error... I don't even have ACC. It's all very strange... I wonder if these LED headlights are wired differently for NAR vs ROW or this new stupid light control module is region specific. 🙄

I wonder if these LED headlights are wired differently for NAR vs ROW or this new stupid light control module is region specific. 🙄 It wouldn't surprise me since ROW and NAR facelifted LP lights are slightly different anyway, with our amber side markers and amber reflector and lack of cornering lamp diffusers.

Agreed, I was thinking the same thing. Thanks for the screen shots alltrack18!

Would loveTo know if this increase the range of motion and functionality of the NAR LED headlights. Has anybody found anything else out?

Sorry, but what is this?? Remove NAR Restrictions 55 – Headlight Regulation – Coding Select: market Change to: ece (Default = nar)
If the car has Advanced Front Lighting System
Select: City light (enable AFS patterns) Change to: enabled (Default = not enabled) Select: rain_light Change to : enabled (Default = not enabled)
If the car has All weather lights, or Fog lights Select: all_weather_light Change to : enabled ( Default = not enabled) After making the changes above - it will be necessary to re-establish the starting parameters for the horizontal beam angle in the hex55 module. This is a 2 x process procedure
Make sure the car is settled on its suspension and on a horizontal, level surface
55 – Headlight Regulation – Basic Settings Select: Basic headlamp setting -run and acknowledge 55 – Headlight Regulation – Basic Settings Select: Acknowledge basic setting-run and acknowledge
Clear any errors on the scan report

Try in 4B module. Search in this module.

Yup you can modify this bit, however on US models the turn signals and daytime running lights will stop working and you’ll get several faults. All I know right now is that the lights (29, 39) or the 4B module needs different parameters or software flashed to make this work.

A friend have a Tiguan in Chile. He retrofited the camera for lane assist and reconfigured the lights configuration in A5 module, 4B and 09. Before he did not have adaptativo lights function, but now yes.
I don’t know if this car have restrictions or not because I don’t know where and how are the cars made. I only think that why not to try to configure in this modules like European car and test....
all this modules, we configured like European in his car. Now he is very happy. We get the dinamic light assist in a car that don’t show this feature
