Can anyone help me. I’ve installed footwell lights in a non footwell 2017 MK7 Golf and can’t find any actual working coding to have the lights turn on when the doors open and or when the headlights turn on. I would prefer coding the have the lights turn on when the doors open, but having both coding would be a dream.
Side not obdeleven does not show long coding in central electrics. I believe this is because of the upgrade they did for 2017 and newer.
Can anyone help?

Leuchte30FR LC72: Lasttyp 30: 36 - LED Kleinleistung Lampendefektbitposition 30: 0 Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC 30: 2 Lichtfunktion A 30: Fussraumlicht
Also to have brightness in the lights menu
Interior light, light configuration: Fussraumbeleuchtung: installed

Sorry bud, doesn’t work. I’ve installed the pin to C72 and followed the correct installation, but coding just doesn’t work. The lights work, I’ve made sure of that.

^^^ Keep vwjap's code. Go to the Central electric module and then to adaptation. Search for Interior light: light configuration. Select Foot well lighting for newer BCMs or Fussraumbeleuchtung in older BCMs. Change the setting to installed
You might need to add the magic number 31347 at some stage too

Hey Don,
Vwjap mentions this piece of coding. I have this setup at the moment and it doesn’t turn on. Any thoughts?

Really really silly question but have you gone into car>settings>lights scrolled down to footwell lights and turned the brightness up?

Haha totally valid question, I’m sure people have done this mistake. I have. When I turned it on, it was defaulted to 80%. I moved to 100% with nothing.
Really hoping someone can fix this for me. I wonder if it’s due to the car being newer than what has been posted in the past.

Assuming that you have a BCM with a non-zero code string - did you enable the software switch in long coding when you installed the foot well lighting -if not scroll down the screens if Central electrics module until you find the switch highlighted below (ignore the descriptors on the RHS of the screen - they are my notes) Don

Hey Don,
As mentioned in my first post, my obdeleven doesn’t provide me with long coding capabilities for my 2017. Where can I find this knowing that I don’t have the option?

Sorry, I’m in the USA on holiday so very limited internet, but what he meant was if you go into long coding in the central electronics module and it’s not all zeros then you have the old module, and if it’s all zeros then you have the new one
In adaptions under Leuchte30FR LC72: what setting do you have under Dimmwert AB 30:? Also what bulbs did you use?

I dont have long coding in central electrics - period. The AB30 settings is 100 and I have 36-LED Kleinleistung set up. Basically what I’ve been told above.
I have the deAutoKey led footwell lights and wiring. Plugged in to pin 72 and grounded.
Any thoughts?

I have the deAutoKey led footwell lights and wiring. Plugged in to pin 72 and grounded. Any thoughts? hmm........... how about lamp polarity? Is the LED polarized correctly in the lamp holder with the anode connected to +ve and the cathode end connected to earth - try turning the LED around- perhaps? Another thing you could try is to add the leuchte-command Fussraumlicht into another known Leutche-set - just as a trial. If for example you temporarily added the command into Leuchte 0 BLK VL B36 - Lichtfunktion B 0 (which should be set to not active as default), the left-hand front blinker should illuminate as a footwell light. Once you have done this - then: - If the front blinker lamp lights up as a footwell light, then the problem is in the physical wiring to pin#72, C
socket on the BCM.
- if the front left blinker doesn't light-up as a footwell light, then the problem is with the adaptation channel settings that enable footwell lighting in the car
Don
PS: when you connected to pin#72, C Socket, did you confirm that there was a physical pin in the BMC housing?

I know I'm bringing this back from the dead but I'm having the same issue, Everything works fine. all the coding is proper with the exception of the Lichtfunktion A 30 value, I've tried Fussraumlicht and nothing happens. If I set it to 100% Active it works. So I know the lights are good it's just a matter of the coding. Was there ever a solution to this?

Hello,
The problem jou have 2017 bcm, on older cars like mine, you must enable i think byte 5 footwell light en byte 17 ambiant footwell light.
when you have a new bcm its different, when you enable byte 5 footwell lights you get a error on the bcm. So untick this and byte 17. i am a new user of obdeleven so some on the adaptations are maybe different. so look at interior lighst second generation, you find footwell anable this. and the other setting loke on the fast type light take over. when this not working, you find on you bcm manny channels like ambiant light parameter.
check my post. You must look ther, to this setting.
i hade the same problem. Only my car had to neet to paramateries the bcm, with vcp then my problem where solved. Just look first to this setting.

Thanks for your input, I have a MY16 golf, I should have specified that, I played with the coding and this is what I came up with.
Lasttyp 30 Old Value = not active New Value = 44 - LED Fußraum - oder- innenleuchte
Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC 30 Old Value = 0 New Value = 2
Lichtfunktion A 30 Old Value = Not Active New Value = Fussraumlicht
Lichtfunktion B 30 Old Value = Not Active New Value = Dimmung Klemme 58xs
Dimmerwert AB 30 Old Value = 0 New Value = 30
Lichtfunktion C 30 Old Value = Not Active New Value = Innenlicht
Dimmwert CD 30 Old Value = 0 New Value =127
This coding was in conjunction with the long coding with "installed" for both enabled.
The light menu slider for footwell lights doesn't work.
Now the lights stay on at 30% (w/running lights on) and when you open the door they light up to 100%.
Any suggestions for improvement? I havent called in my german freinds to help me translate yet. It's worth mentioning that the footwell lights are LED. Any idea to get the slider to work? or because I have LED's is that out of the question?
Thanks for your reply! Regards Jamie

Lasttype 30 must be on valeu 36 led kleinleistung
B30 must be no active. AB30 must be 89 % not 30 thats way its not bright.
ther must be olso this sttings on the bcm.
