I am not new to automotive diag tools, but OBDeleven is quite different than almost all others.
I have three different Audi models. None, at this point, are in need any diagnostic work but that could change at any time !!
For general use, am I best served by purchasing the base unit and buy "credits" as needed? Do all the "upgrades" stay active for 12 or 24 months and have to be repurchased?

So maybe a quick check on OBD11 Site would help answer your questions but below is my understanding. Firstly One Click Apps you pay once and they SHOULD stay for ever, if they dont and it does not say that in the description then ask for you money back. With regards to what is the best version. If you are happy to code/learn to code then the Pro License however if you just want to use pre coded apps then you just use the basic version and pay for OCA. If you check out obdeleven.com/compare?compareTab=devices&Volkswagen it will show you most of the differences between the various versions on VAG motors Be aware the IOS App does not do as much as the Android app Define General Use, for example do you want to do things like basic settings to re start the learning process on DSG Gearbox, do you want to be able to manually code, do you want to do control unit backups etc etc, now I call all those things general you may not so you need to be more specific but chick out the link I gave you that should help answer your questions, if not ask more detailed questions and maybe share motor and year as not all cars are the same.
