Hello, I have followed some steps from a Golf MK8 forum to be able to synchronise the rearview mirrors. This function consists of both mirrors moving at the same time when we adjust with the selector on the left side (I have a left-hand drive), and in case of minor adjustment, you can put the selector on the right side and finish adjusting that mirror a little more. I am going to share my experience and ask for advice for more details. In the Golf forum they indicate several steps: 1- Module 09 - adaptation - Spiegelverstellung
and here you have to activate both:
Spiegelverstellung_Synchron and Menuesteuerung_synchrone_Spiegelverstellung (the latter so that the menu appears in the MMI, I suppose). 2- Modules 42 and 52, long coding, activate "Mirror_Synchronous_Adjustment" In my case, I tried all that, and several things happened, the first is that the option does not appear in the MMI to activate or deactivate this function, and the second one, skipping the first step completely it works. I understand that for the A3 8Y it is only necessary to enter on both modules 42 and 52 (driver's door and passenger door) and do only the previous long coding "Mirror_Synchronous_Adjustment" to active. Is this last thing I mentioned correct?
On the other hand, my car has the Mirror-dip on reverse gear active, that is, when selecting R and putting the mirror selector on the right side, the mirror automatically lowers to the memorised position to be able to park and see the curb. The thing is that I would like both mirrors to do the same thing, and I have copied into module 42 what is already active in 52 by default, which is: long coding - "mirror_lowering_with_rear_gear" active and "position_memory_with_rear_gear" active but this does not make them both lower whit R combined with the mirror selector on right position (I tried left too). Can someone guide me through this process? Is it possible?
Thanks

Eddy: Hi. I'm not sure about the mirror synchronizing question - but if you want the function and it works with just the long-code changes, why do the adaptation channel settings matter? Your second question about operating mirror-dip on reverse on the driver side mirror has been asked many times before for the previous module MQB platform cars and the answer is that the function is ONLY available for the passenger-side mirror.
For mirror-dip to operate, the door module needs to have a memory module installed that is used to store the horizontal/vertical coordinates of the mirror starting position (so the mirror can return to the correct position. The driver mirror doesn't have this electronics. The reason why the driver door has the same long-code switches on both car-side door modules is for those cars that have a different drive-side. If you want, you can confirn the absence of the memory module on the driver-side mirror via my instructions below on the driver door module (if you are using the iOS version OBD11 software, the screens will be different - but the process is the same):

Don Hi Don! Thanks a lot for the fast reply. I understand well the Mirror Dip question, and I will check tomorrow if my driver's door has this memory module. About the mirror synchronizing, can you help me to get the menu to activate and deactivate it from MMI? Since Golf MK8 and A3 8Y are the same platform...

hmm......... as I said "I'm not sure about mirror synchronizing question"!
My ONLY suggestion is that maybe the MMI on this car doesn't like the way that your current options for the mirror are set-up? By this I mean that maybe adding the mirror-synch menu somehow conflicts with the other options that are activated (particularly the other MENU options). But I'm totally guessing!!
I've found a Golf mk8 in my database that appears to have the mirror-synchronization function activated and I've included the channel settings below. As you can see from my list, the Golf mk8 does NOT have fold-in mirrors - perhaps this is a conflict with the mirror synch MENU (I don't know)?
Again, I stress that I'm guessing and of course the values below apply to a MIB (not to a MMI). Anyhow, maybe try setting the channels on your car as per the values in my list? Revert the values back to their original settings if my suggestion doesn't work
Spiegelverstellung - cp_Komfortbedienung_Spiegel_anklappen (cp comfort control Fold in the mirror) > not active
- Menuesteuerung_Funk_Spiegel_anklappen (Menu control radio fold mirror) > not active
- Menuesteuerung_Spiegelabsenkung (Menu control mirror lowering) > active
- Menuesteuerung_synchrone_Spiegelverstellung (Menu control synchronous mirror adjustment) > active
- Spiegelabsenkung_bei_Rueckwaertsfahrt (Mirror lowering when reversing) > active
- Spiegelanklappen_bei_Verriegelung Mirror folding when locked > not active
- Spiegelverstellung_Synchron (Mirror adjustment synchronous) > active

This is my actual config:

You can see that no changes on MMI. Maybe I'm wrong with the name, mine is MHI3, not MIB. Maybe this is the issue and I can get the menu on MMI with another code/module? maybe gabrielepreziosa can help us? He knows about MHI3

He knows about MHI3 About the R folding mirror you should try to adjust the R position of the mirror, maybe this is the step you haven’t done. With R gear (engine on) set the selector at the passenger side and try to set that position as you prefer. To test this function set D gear and reach at least 12 KM/h. You should see the mirror return to the driving position, then set R and the mirror should go to parking position. Let us know.

Ok, I will tell you if my driver's door has memory module, and then try your instructions. What about the option or menu on MMI to enable/disable mirrors synchronisation?

dv52 (Australia) I have done your test and... My driver's door says "Supply voltage" not active and "install" not installed, and my passenger's door says "Supply voltage" active and "install" not installed. is this correct?
Then I changed on module 42 "memory mirror" to active and live data said to me "install" installed (i don't have capture of this, but I nearly sure of it).
Remember that my car has mirror-dip from factory.

^^^^ yes the outcome of your tests is exactly as I predicted if mirror-dip was factory installed. As I said, the memory module is installed ONLY in the passenger-side fitting.

Ok, so now we know that Mirror Dip on Reverse is only for the passenger's door in my case (and much more cases). Both gabrielepreziosa and dv52 (Australia) can you help me with the other question? It is about get on the MMI the menu to enable/disable Synchronized mirror adjustment that I activated and that is present, for example, on Golf MK8 with possibility of this menu.
