I might be mistaken, but wireless carplay might be a SwAP feature. To enable it, a FEC code needs to be purchased from VW after an official dealer issues a request.
It is not possible to circumvent the paywall with coding changes alone. The FEC must be authentic also (no cracks, expllits etc), as the OCU in the car constantly talks to the VW servers and checks whether all the requested SwAP features are alao legibly granted by valid FEC codes.

Beside coding it's very important that you have the 10" infotainment (which has built-in wifi). Even so, the 2021 (1st edition) with 10" was enabled only for Apple Carplay and NOT Android AUto (at least in Romania).
Otherwise the 8" (smaller one - with two knobs) has no wireless capabilities and therefore Carplay and Android Auto are available only on USB.
