I’m looking to have the front light bar always on, I’ve searched the forum on how to do it and I’ve only seen the coding part. I go into central electrics on obd and I don’t see the long coding option, and I assume this is where the light bar coding would be. I’m not sure if there’s a setting I have to turn on to enable it, I’m new to all this. Sorry if this has been asked a million times.
I’ve also seen that enabling the Scandinavian lights will turn on the light bar, but it hasn’t worked for me, so maybe it’s possible that it isn’t available yet. Would appreciate any help.

glcc : Hi. In respect of your observation that the long-code on the central electrics module is difficult to find - this is correct because the module doesn't have a long-code string. Not ALL modules have both a long-code facility and an adaptation channel database. In fact there are lots of modules that ONLY have a long-code string and NO adaptation channels! On your MQB-evo platform car, don't waste time looking for long-code on the 09 module - it lost this facility way back on later model Golf mk7.5s. Instead, ALL of the Byte/Bits that were in the 09 module in earlier model Golfs (mainly mk7s) were transferred to the adaptation channel part of the module I assume that currently on your mk8, the front light-bar turns-ON after dark ONLY - if so, try the steps below to also turn-ON the light-bar in daylight: - Ignition-ON, engine-OFF. Plug-in OBD11 dongle into OBD port
- Fire-up OBD11 software and connect to dongle
- Navigate to the Control Unit screen (this process depends on the version OBD11 software -Android, or iOS)
- Select the central electrics module
- scroll-down the screen and select Adaptation
- In the search-box enter "AMBL" and select Leuchte 31 AMBL 1 C61 (this is the Leuchte-set for the left-side light-bar)
- Confirm that Lichtfunktion B = nichtaktiv (DON'T proceed if this is NOT the existing value)
- Change Lichtunction B to Tagfahrlicht and implement the modification
- Go back to Step 5 above
- In the search-box enter "AMBL" and select Leuchte 32 AMBL 2 C35 (this is the Leuchte-set for the right-side light-bar)
- repeat Step 7 and Step 8 above
- Exit OBD11 software and remove dongle
- Cycle ignition and confirm changed light-bar operation
Don
PS: to explain how the tweak works, Tagfahrlicht=Daytime running lights. So, the instructions simply add the Leuchte-command for DRLs to the control software for the left/right parts of the light-bar - thereby illuminating the LEDs during daylight hours. Since the light-bar is already factory coded to turn-ON after dark- the change results in permanent illumination of the LEDs whenever the ignition is turned-ON!

Hey man, I really appreciate the detailed message with step by step, this worked perfectly. Hope this helps other people as well.
Just a note to other people doing this, if you don’t see the light bar turn on after turning the ignition off and turning it back on, leave your car turned off for 5-10 minutes and turn it back on and it should be working after. Cheers bro
