Hi everyone, I have a golf with eco LED headlights, the basic ones so to speak, I was wondering if I could use the position LED strip as a direction indicator instead of the halogen bulb which is very ugly on a car like this

Hmm, AFAIK that's not a dual colour LED on the basic headlight. Otherwise prove me wrong.

We will be able to see from the control unit if it is able to change color, but I really don't know where to look, it might be able to do it

Short answer: No Long answer: It is just a white LED. Its physically impossible to change the color.

Hi, has anyone tried installing LED bulbs? From the workshop manual it seems that they can be removed.

When I remember correctly, we had this topic some years ago in a German Forum. Yes, they can be removed. Yes, it was far from convenient. I think it was a PWY24W socket. There are LEDs for this, but as always: Halogen Sockets are normative for Halogen bulbs only. Installing a LED which is not tested to fit that exact vehicle will have the consequence that your car is running out of specs and will fail a well done road safety test Having a bland E-Number on the bulb does not make it fit for exterior lightning

So yesterday i've tried to remove the bulbs but it seems to be "glued" into the headlights and don't want to come out. For now think the easy way is directly retrofitting to the performance lights but i don't know how to do this.

cristiano01, Not easy and not cheap by any means. Used LED+ lights go for around 450-500 eur a piece and Matrix IQ for 600-750 eur a piece. If you want the Matrix than you need additionally the 4B module which will set you back another 350 euro (has to be bought new because of CP) and you need wiring modifications. For the matrix functionality, if you don't have the FLA swap (Fernlicht assistent) from factory is another 1100 euro to generate one post purchase if not available for your VIN in the store... The LED+ are at least plug and play, but not worth in my oppinion (with these you get the LED blinker and not a halogen bulb). Coding is not hard, but you need access to proper datasets and knowledge. Dataset access for these is scarce - people who have access mostly retrofit professionally as paid service. That all said, I went the route of updating from basic to full Matrix headlights. Was a shit ton of work, frustration and money, but I would do it again The comunity here will help you if you decide to go that route.
