Hello everyone!
As some of you know, I installed the Racingline Sport Springs a month or two ago. I thought the ride was OK, at first. After a few days, I came to the realization that the ride was way harsher than before. My wife did NOT enjoy our usual rides 😅. I asked a bunch of known shops and tuners about the DCC calibration and most, if not all, said it was not necessary. However, the advice online was to do it. I started calling dealers, and they all either ignored me or just straight up did not want to help. Finally, I decided to go ahead and do it with OBDeleven.
I tried to follow the instructions for the MK7/7.5, but some of the menu options were not there. I am creating this post to help any MK8 Golf R owners who install springs to be able to recalibrate their DCC. This is a slight variation from the MK7/7.5 steps, but I confirmed that it works and there is a significant difference after the recalibration. In short, it dampens much better now. It is still a bit more firm than stock, but the ride quality remains comfortable and my wife is happy😁.
Here are the steps:
And.... that's it! Enjoy your newly comfortable ride. Let me know if you have any questions.

Here are the steps:
- Drive a couple of hundred miles to allow the springs to settle.
- Lift the car up on all four corners. The suspension must be totally uncompressed.
- Pop open the hood.
- Hook up to your OBDeleven.
- Go to Long Coding > Wheel Dampening (14)
- Side note: you will not be able to check the current settings like the MK7/7.5 as there is no "Adapting with deflected wheels" in the Adaptation menu.
- Go to Basic Settings > Adapting with deflected wheels.
- Screenshot Font Software Technology Multimedia
- Press and hold the checkbox in the bottom right until it changes to a hand with the word "Stop" underneath. "Basic settings status" will go from "not active" to "active". A green notification will say "Basic settings started".
- Screenshot Font Software Multimedia Electronic device
- Wait a few seconds. It will seem like nothing has happened, but the DCC is calculating the new settings. I don't know how long you have to wait, but I believe the calculation is instant.
- Press and hold the hand on the bottom right until it changes back to a check.
And.... that's it! Enjoy your newly comfortable ride. Let me know if you have any questions.
