jrd: hmm....... I very much doubt that connecting the puddle-lights and the license plate lamp via coding changes is possible!! This is because on a mk7, the puddle-lights are connected to the 2 x door modules (on each car side) and the license-plate light is connected to the central electrics module. So, the only way to connect these separate modules is via CAN based messages - almost an impossible task to achieve with OBD11!! Don

I tought the same as dv52, but then I remembered a funny finding from playing with the interior light dimming values for having constant, dim illumination at night.
As soon as the interior light is requested (doors, ignition, modified door closed+ignition) ... not the hard wired button) the puddle lights come up at 100% and turn off by timeout or by a reset of the request. So the puddle lights should follow the interior light almost 100%
An idea to try would be to add Innenlicht to Leuchte25 at Lichtfunkion B. You might want to add some logic for daytime or running engine, but that would be more complex.
You cannot use the roof button to activate it, as that is hardwired and follows no control units signal

Thanks you for your answers. It seems very complex.

I suggested one single adaption to try at first to confirm it is working.
I do not see this as very complicated
In case you do not want the license plate to light up e.g. with the engine running, it is more complex but still manageable.
