Hello, currently in the process of wiring ambient footwell lights into my mk7 golf. I’ve wired on power and ground, aswell as the lights themselves. I’m struggling to find the location of the convinience canbus, being green/orange and brown/orange. Tried to connect to behind the radio just incase and nothing, as this is the infotainment bus. Anyone know a point where I can tap into the bus? Thanks

Ok, I know org/blk org/green is in the loom behind the pocket by the drivers right knee on a rhd, also it’s been a while but I also think there may be behind the left leg footrest under the carpet where the big yellow plug is, but there’s not much room there, Also passenger side footwell a-pillar bottom cover there’s a loom behind there above the connectors (blue beige) May also be a pair on the steering column too

That’s a perfect location for me that! Any chance you know if it goes into any of the connectors there?

It doesn’t The org/blk org/blue goes into the beige plug, and I think I recall the org/white too

I guess I’ll have to splice into it one way or another. Thanks for your help!

Yeah Don’t use scotch locks, plus don’t let them touch if their bare, Plus make sure the two wires your adding are twisted up to a inch to the join (otherwise you can get databus error messages)

What would be the best way to connect them? And I’ve found another area but there are blue dots on the orange/green wire. I’m guessing this is different?

Wouldn’t be different, maybe just a identifier to let you know where it goes too, You could solder a pin to a wire and push that through the can wire, or you could strip it back a little with a sharp knife and solder directly to the wire, or you could pull the pin and join the wire to the og with a new pin
