Good day, I was so excited about my new OBD 11 pro arrived today. I wanted to activate the compass on the main dashboard. I purchased the app for this and activated this app. In the dash even after restarting the car it says “compass currently unavailable “ the app even told me that this was available on my Tiguan. Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong? All advice is welcome. Thank you David

David: Hi. I'm guessing of course - but does this car have SATNAV?

Hello Don, no, it doesn't have the SATNAV. I was thinking that if would take the GPS off my phone for WAZE.. Anyway, the nice people at OBD11 refunded that credit. I'm new at this, but enjoying the OBD11 Pro. BTW, is there a way to update the infotainment system on my 2018 Tiguan?
Thx David

David: Always nice to meet a new-bee!! I hope that enjoy your learning journey into the black arts of OBD stuff!
As for your question, we might have a problem of understanding. The "infotainment system" on MQB platform cars like your mk2 Tiggy, is ostensibly a module that lives @ address hex5F on the CAN network (it's the unit inside the glove-box). Not surprisingly, it's a quite sophisticated module with a wide functional scope - what exactly do you mean by "update"? OBD11 can modify some parts of the hex5F software (basically turn - ON/OFF various functions that are pre-loaded into the existing module software) - but it cannot do stuff like update the fundamental firmware in the module Don
