camarao69 ; Why do believe that you need to add a module @ address hex 57? Have you retrofitted a TV to the car? What make/model is the car? Post-up a copy of the scan report for the car - please:

cameron: Look at your scan report - notice that the module called 5F-Multimedia has Part Number 565035021 - this means that it is a MIB 2.5. Also notice that your scan does NOT report a module @ address hex57 - either without an error, or with an error saying that it can't communicate with the other modules on the CAN network.
Both of these observations mean that your car doesn't have a TV turner - which is NOT surprising because AFAIK, MQB platform cars (like your car) only had TV turners in cars for the Japan market!

Hello DV52 i know it has a mib2.5 i had said it before and i have the tv tuner in place, i'm installing it, and i know in UK it was installed on 2016 Lauren kanell version. The thing is tv tuner does not have a CAN cable only MOST the par number is 8v0919191.

camarao69 : That's exactly my point - "the tuner does NOT have a CAN cable only MOST". Again AFAIK, and according to my reading of the wiring diagram -on MQB platform cars, the TV turner does NOT appear to participate on the CAN network. I say "appear" because I've no experience retrofitting a TV Tuner - so I'm more than happy to be corrected. If I'm correct - this confirms your observation of an absence of a hex57 entry on the Gateway installation table. I note that the dashboard module on your car is AID -so MOST is already factory enabled on your car. I'm also curious about the "unknown error" on your hex19 module -when did you retrofit the TV tuner - was it on 2022-04-28 @ about 15:28?
Also, there are a bunch of adaptation channels in the hex5F module related to the TV Tuner function - what code changes have you made related to the retrofit?

Hello DV57 you might be correct about the hour but the unknown error i have in the gateway i think is component protection because of mib unit. I have enabled 2 adaptations of tv tuner (the only ones i found)
TV_tuner_0x2C menu_display_TV_Tuner
There is a guy that did this instalation on skoda community but he is not awnsering my questions one thing i know he did was enable a antena monitering to see the atenuation level of the antena cables via vcds, I think that is done on module 57 After it is enabled .

@camara69: Hmm......I'm not sure that you are correct about the "unknown error" in the Gateway module - I've seen lots of residual errors from hacked MIB units - these are normally reported as CP errors (not as "unknown"). My hunch is that this error is related to your TV tuner Again, I'm talking theoretically - because I haven't actually done a TV retrofit - but even-though the TV tuner doesn't appear to be part of the CAN Network, there is a wire connected on the TV module to the ring-break-diagnostic facility that is monitored by the Gateway module (this is a function of participation on the MOST bus). This means (I think) that the Gateway module does need to be told about the installation of the TV tuner So, check the hex 19 module - go to adaptation - is GW_Enable_CAN_Timeout_DTC-TV Tuner set to enabled? Also set TV Tuner to coded in the screenshot below:

Hello DV57
GW_Enable_CAN_Timeout_DTC-TV Tuner this was already enabled yesterday i did enable tv tuner on installation list , with this i have a no comunication error from the tv tuner on gateway.
Any other idea please ?

running out of suggestions - does ehe TV tuner appear as a "subsystem" of the MIB?
|

|
Post by camarao69 on May 2, 2022 22:06:57 GMT
From OEM the car comes fitted with 8v0919191C but i have retrofited the version 8v0919191B , i know the hardware is the same but software might not be , do you think this could be the problem ? Tv tuner is not a subsystem on MIB.
Shouldn't the tv tuner appear on the module list after i have enabled it in gateway adaptation? I dont even see it with a black dot?
I did not connect the ring break cable, now i know where it is placed (j794) pin 3 grey switch maybe this is the problem

hmm............. yes!!
Also, does your hex 5F module have a bunch of adaptation channels called "Installation list: specified installations"? If so, is there an entry "TV Tuner" and is the value "yes"?

Hello DV52 i have connected the ring break diagnostic cable to the Mib unit but everything stays the same.
The option you say gave me the error - no comunication on gateway.

The option you say gave me the error - no comunication on gateway. That's good news - at least now, the Gateway module is looking for a TV tuner to include in its operation!!
So, I'm guessing, but have you confirmed that there is volts at the turner connector and have you verified the integrity of the earth connection? Also, is the TV tuner new, or second hand (maybe an internal module fault)?
post-up the actual fault details

Hello DV57 i have been searching and the part i have is 8v0919191B and for what i have read it is made for taiwan region martket (i bought it from Netherlands). Is there a way to flash this unit because i know for sure that the hardware is the same one as 8v0919191C .

You can't change module software with OBD11 and I have no idea where you would get the new software (other than from a VAG dealer). In any event, I'm not convinced that an incorrect region problem would result in your situation. If the problem was incorrect region firmware, why isn't the module recognized?

Hello DV52 , i have bought and installed 8v0919191C but i have the same problem. One thing i know is that i had to confirm the instalation change for both tuners, that means that is knows something was connected. Do you think i need change anything in AID ? Should the tv tuner light up one optical light ?

Don do you think my problem might be cp ? The thing is my mib2 is a hacked one and i thought i had cp because of that but maybe it is for the tuner. The other guy that did this installation did not have this problem maybe because his hardwares are older than mine 5f, 09 and 19, expecially the gateway i will try to find someone with odis and see.
Many thanks to you Don for your collaboration.

camarao69 : hmm....... we have been discussing this matter for a long time and I suspect that I'm running out of suggestions - as I have already said, I've not done this retrofit before, so I'm only able to advise from a theoretical perspective!! Again, anything is possible - but my hunch (happy to be proven wrong) is that the hex19 module is probably not the issue. Your previous scan shows the Gateway module as scan GW MQB High. So your car has a "high" module- which should suffice for the TV function.
Plus more importantly (and as I have already said), the TV module on the MOST 150 system appears to have very little involvement on the CAN bus - which is the focus of the Gateway module operation.
Here is a very high level CAN network diagram of the Networking infotainment and MOST150 data bus arrangement: I've included the note about CP at the bottom of my picture to address your other question - but for the hex19 matter, notice that the TV module (R78) is NOT a registered CAN module for the purpose of the Gateway module (my CAN network diagram calls the Gateway mode "J533"). See in the diagram that R78 is only tied to the network via J794 (which is the MIB) via the MOST optical data bus.
As for the possible cause being CP - I was aware that you had changed the MIB on this car - but I didn't know until your last post that this was a hacked 5F module - you should have said this earlier! Yes, it's entirely possible that the hack is the problem here. By definition, hacked modules turn OEM equipment into non-OEM modules!! It's anyone's guess how the hacker has modified the module firmware to defeat the CP mechanism, but given that TV module is part of the CP constellation , my guess is that this is very likely the reason why you cannot get TV working.
I don't know anything about your old MIB, but if it's compatible with the TV module, you could try re-installing it. Given that you haven't changed the Gateway module and since the Gateway module is also the CP master module - if you re-install the old MIB, you should not get CP errors. This suggestion should just be a case of swapping module boxes - does the TV module work with this set-up?

First: I'm not sure what type of car this is (or the country of use) - but clearly from the error reports, the TV tuner on this model car IS included in the Component Protection (CP) constellation!! The VCDS cable that was used to create the scan is obsolete - meaning that you need a HEXNET series device to properly scan the newer CAN protocols on this car.
That said, it's obvious from the CP errors that before (repeat "before" for emphasis) anything can be done to fix the hex57 module, you will need to remove the CP error. The ONLY way to officially remove CP errors is with an active connection to the VAG servers in Germany (called FAZIT) - which usually means a visit to a dealer. Maybe someone can hack the TV turner to remove the CP errors - but I suggest the official process!!
Again, whist you will be able to fix the other errors on this module with CP errors active - you won't be able to use the TV turner in a practical sense unless (and until) the CP errors have been removed
Second: You will need to properly set-up the long-code string on the hex57 module. The first line of the SCAN report says "Labels:* None" - this means that there is no long-code-helper screens for this module (which will be a problem). The only suggestion that I have for this problem is to try long-code values from other SCANs for PN 8V0 919 191 modules on the net: Here's some examples that I have found on the net: - 0304030000000100000000
- 0104010000000100000002
- 01041C0000000100000000
I stress that I have no idea what the software switches above actually do - these are just examples of factory settings on 8V0 919 191 modules
Third: The antenna and "terminal 30" errors in the SCAN strongly suggest that there are problems with the wiring for the TV module (assuming that the module itself isn't faulty). You will need to fault-find these errors separately!!

Hello DV52 sorry to pm you, i just did that because i thought that i could not talk about vcds in the forum.
The error about the antenas i know they are there because i still have not plug them , i was expecting the help of obdeleven to tell me what cable i am plugin in so they don't get switched (i did not mark the cables).
As for installing this unit, I'm not interested in seeing tv but in controlling from the infotainment what my kids see at the back .
The question that made this thread was still not answered, why in obd11 57 -tv tuner was not showed and we now know that maybe it was component protection . I went to the dealer to remove the component protection , i bought the part from ebay so i should not be afraid ,but the technician looked at me with suspicion and did not know what i was talking about, he demanded me to show him the invoice of the purchase of tv tuner for to try and do something, I do not trust them to do the job as they don't know about the subject i will have to go a different dealer or buy Odis and do it myself.

camarao69 : Again - ain't nothing going to happen with the TV module unless the CP errors are removed. It's your first priority!!
I'm not sure about the "technician's" suspicion - but CP is marketed by the VAG Group as being their answer to the trade of stolen parts on the black market. Don't get me wrong - I've absolutely no knowledge of the bone-fides of the module that you purchased - and I assume that the financial transaction was perfectly legitimate. I make NO judgement about this matter!!
Also and I repeat, the way that CP works is that after each ignition switch-ON, the Gateway module detects any new (key) modules that have been installed onto the CAN Network. If the hex19 module detects a module that isn't authorized in its "master CP identity list" - it will tag the module with a CP error. If a module has a CP error, it generally means that the module will be unusable from a practical perspective (the module can still be accessed with a diagnostic device).
Notwithstanding that some folk have been able to hack CP errors (I've not heard of a hack on the TV module) - there is only ONE official way to delete these errors; the car needs to be connected to VAG Group's central IT server called "FAZIT" and the car's "master CP identity list" needs to be updated to include the identity of the new module. This is an encrypted process that re-writes data both onto the car's memory and also onto FAZIT - which contains a full copy of the complete database of the car's CAN information.
So, the option of "buy Odis and do it myself" won't work because you need to have the FAZIT link as a part of the exercise!! As I have said, only a dealer will be able to clear the CP error - and please don't be offended if the technician is suspicious (it's the master tech's job to ask questions about the source of the new module)

Hello , i have removed cp with odis (a friend lend me his vas5054a and i installed it in my laptop and bought an 1 hour geko account) i have attached the antenas , i have no errors in tv tuner (in odis) but still no 57. I can manually see tv tuner in odis but odis does not consider it to be an installed component.

So much back and forward all this time and every thing was working , you don't have to enable 57 tv tuner in gateway because it talks to the mib2 unit 5F (5f is a most master bus) and obdeleven did not help in here because it does not scan most bus modules . A year after and i have it working finally.
