fhamdan: Hi. AFAIK, there isn't a specific setting for New Zeland in VW's navigation options - like there is for Australia (which has its own listing).
I suggest that you navigate to the long coding facility in the MIB (infotainment unit) that is called "5F Information electronics 1" by OBD11 and then navigate to the Byte 3 entries- on my records there is a country option called "AsiaPacific" (it's directly above "Australia") - maybe this includes NZ?
However, I don't believe that your task will be this simple for the following two reasons: - The navigation function uses the map information that's loaded onto the SD card that's plugged into the MIB. If your car was first sold in Japan, this SD car will contain Japan maps only. You will need to get hold of New Zealand maps that are loaded onto a genuine VW SD card- because the VW SD cards contain a special security key. I'm not sure if you can use a Japanese SD card for NZ map information because of the reason below
- The navigation facility on your car is known as "Software As Product" (SWAP) and it requires a special authorization code called a "Facility Enabling Code" (FEC) to be activated. The FEC (it's a type of license) is specific to the car's VIN. And also for navigation, the FEC is specific for country areas around the world. I very much doubt that the original FEC that currently resides in your MIB (which is licensed to operate in Japan) will extend authorization to NZ. But I am more than delighted to be proven wrong!!

Yes you can. I also live in Cyprus and have a golf imported from Japan. It can be easily translated. Mine is in Turkish now and it shows its own map of the country.

veteran : Hi. For the radio - the band-widths for the various radio modes and channel separation frequencies are changed via the software switches in the hex5F module. However, the precise values depend entirely on how the car was factory fitted originally (and I assume that you have a PRO account).
As for SATNAV - modification of the maps is more problematic because the operating license that is factory installed in the MIB is specific to a particular world region (which I assume is Japan on this car). As an official exercise, you will need to get a license for Europe from VW (albeit I understand that it is possible to hack the license - I can't comment on this process).
If you want to proceed with the radio station matter - please provide specific information about the MIB on this car (I need to see the long-code string for the hex5F module)
