Hi there!
I was wondering if it is possible to retrofit on my Golf the two LED bar and if an activation is needed / possible with the OBDeleven. I really don't know if I can order the needed part and connect it directly somewhere. If someone can help me with this it would be appreciated!
My Golf is a 1.5 Life 130 with the IQ.Light Matrix
Have a nice day, Alex!

I am also looking for part numbers and other stuff to retrofit a LED bar (anyway, 2 LED bars) on an 2019 MK8 Style for a friend , which at that time didn't had LED grill installed from factory.
We've checked my car and his car but without disassembly we couldn't find where they are connected. First we say a connector just right to the logo but it turned out to be the radar.
There are some cheap stuff on Aliexpress, but I won't trust them.

I can give you a screen with the part number, you can ask your dealer for the price and to order them. There are several references, I know that the "first" generation of them is the "5H0 941 653 A" for the left and the "5H0 941 654 C" for the right. However, I can figure out if a coding is needed and if I can make it with the OBDEleven.. :/

Hi! Since I am also interested in the retrofit of the led bar I did some research: First of all online you can find the single left and right strips which, I believe, are to be applied to the existing grid (correct me if I'm wrong) or the whole complete grid divided by models (style, R-Line, GTE / I / D). I don't know which one is better to use.
Next is the wiring problem. The two lamps are controlled directly by the 09: Central Electrics control unit which has 2 pins in the C connector for control. So you have to simply pull 2 wires from the strip towards the left area of the vehicle (where there is the BCM) and the negative simply take it from the nearest gnd point (on both sides near the headlights there is one).
Now comes the hardest part which is the coding. I have seen, in some scans in the forum, that in the adaptations of 09, in the category Lights, there are the Leuchte sections 31 and 32 that some have configured and others have not. I don't know if these are the correct parameters to change.

I found that the Leuchte address for the led bars are different: Golf 8 built before week 48/2020 (famous 16xx infotainment software): * Leuchte 2 SL VL B20 = Left Drl center light * Leuchte 3 SL VR B32 = Right Drl center light Golf 8 built after week 48/2020 (17xx/18xx infotainment software): * Leuchte 31 AMBL 1 C61 = Left Drl center light * Leuchte 32 AMBL 2 C35 = Right Drl center light Even after the big software update from 16xx to 1896 (91CU recall) the Leuchte address remains the same.

Didn't the lightbar was introduced with the KW48/20 change? SL should be a rear light...
Either way, this is the coding for a retrofit. Leuchte 31 and Leuchte 32 (AMBL 1 and 2) have the same Lasttyp: allgemeine_LED_bis_6W Lichtfunktion A: Standlicht Dimmwert ABC: 100 Lichtansteuerung HD ABC: always Lichtfunktion D 31: Ambiente Exterior 4 Dimmwert DEF: 100
Leuchte 31 only: Lampendefektposition 31: 35 Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC31 : 26
Leuchte 32 only: Lampendefektposition 32: 3f Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC: 27

Can anyone tell me these values might be for the 2021 Arteon? I realllllly want to enable 100% brightness for all DRL's in both main beam on and off states, as well as center left and right DRL's to be on when main beam is off. Would massively appreciate any help; thanks guys!

Good to know they changed it mid production. For a retrofit is looks safest to pin them to the AMBL outputs
Regarding Arteon: Please ask in the correct forum. Either way, I doubt that what you describe is actually possible because of the limits of the light bar and the 4B module.

Can one code so that the light bars are permanently off? I don't like the look of them personally so would rather they were not on.
And if it is possible to code them off, will that setting stay when you restart?

Tried reversing the retrofit instructions? Like setting the mentioned Lichtfunktionen to "nicht aktiv"

Hello!
I have a question, do you know which socket I should connect my two left and right grills to on the fuse box?
Thank you!

They are not connected via the fusebox, but use a dimmable, power limited output of the BCM.
Erwin allows you to obtain the PDF wiring diagram for the Golf Variant. You will get all wirings, connection joints and connector pinouts. It is not easy to navigate, but a valueable resource

Looks like nicht aktiv and a active dimmwert is not interlocked.
Can you also try to set the dimmwert channels to 0?

.................. for example "u should plug the sockets on led bar to fusebox and the ground should be plugged to fusebox gnd." etc etc... and after the wiring done how can i code the led bar, what is the correct coding for 2022 golf 8, thank you in advance. I've not done this retrofit - but looking at your wiring diagram, the arrangement for L362/L363 seems to be the same as for most of the other external lamps in these cars. By this I mean that late model Golfs (and ALL modern VW vehicles, really) no longer use the traditional method of in-line fused circuits. Instead, in today's cars- electrical protection of lamp circuits happens within the control module, itself.
If you look at the Leuchte-sets in a late model Golf, you will find a couple of channels related specifically to diagnostic monitoring and circuit protection. There are internal facilities inside the central electrics module that can detect faulty lamps/wires and isolate these circuits for individual lights. Once a detected fault has been repaired, these internal protection facilities automatically reset and allow normal lamp functioning !
So, bottom-line= no fuses are required for this project - which is why the wiring arrangement in your picture shows no fuses!! BUT (and there is always a "but" in these type of exercises) - I'm puzzled by a disconnect between your wiring diagram and a previous reply to this thread - copy below: I found that the Leuchte address for the led bars are different: Golf 8 built before week 48/2020 (famous 16xx infotainment software): * Leuchte 2 SL VL B20 = Left Drl center light * Leuchte 3 SL VR B32 = Right Drl center light Golf 8 built after week 48/2020 (17xx/18xx infotainment software): * Leuchte 31 AMBL 1 C61 = Left Drl center light * Leuchte 32 AMBL 2 C35 = Right Drl center light Even after the big software update from 16xx to 1896 (91CU recall) the Leuchte address remains the same. The standard nomenclature (naming convention) for Leuchte-sets specifies the pin number that is controlled. In the quote above, the relevant leuchte-sets are:
- Leuchte 31 AMBL 1 C61 = Left Drl center light
- Leuchte 32 AMBL 2 C35 = Right Drl center light
This means that the pin assignments are: - For the Left Drl center light (Leuchte 31) = pin #61, Socket C
- For the Right Drl center light (Leuchte 32) = pin #35, Socket C
However, you wiring diagram (copy below) says: - Left Drl center light = pin # 61, Socket B
- Right Drl center light = pin #35, Socket B
So, there is a disconnect somewhere - I think!!!

So that there are no problems whether it works or not, take the power supply (signal) from 12. in the cabin and ground from the battery. The led bar is activated when you start the car. I am overjoyed

Hi guys, I've been following this page for a long time because I also intend to install the LED bar. I installed it a few days ago and now I'm having trouble getting it to work. I have tried several times following your advice but LED Bar do not work. In detail, I tried to connect the electrical cables of the LED bar in 2 different ways: 1) connect 1 cable to pin 20 of socket B (the central one) of the BCM and 1 cable to pin 32. Then i carrying out both coding the Leuchte 2 SL VL B20 + Leuchte 3 SL VRB32 and both the coding Leuchte 31 AMBL 1 C61 / Leuchte 32 AMBL 2 C35 but it doesn't work.....the led bar with this coding and this electrical connection only lights up with reverse gear engaged; 2) connect on socket C of the BCM by connecting pins 35 and 61 and with both codings mentioned above, the LED bar still doesn't work.....I don't know what to do anymore. I'm seriously considering getting a 12V key operated ignition to make it turn on. Do you have any advice to give me? I have a Golf 8 with full LED headlights from September 2021. My LED bar have 3 cables: 1 in common negative and 2 positive (1 for right LED and 1 for left LED). Thank you. (I hope I was clear in my explanation)

dagdelen : hmm......... as I have already said, there seems to be a disconnect between the VW wiring diagram and the naming convention for Leuchte-sets in massimo23 advice (not his fault).
The outcome when connecting to B20 and B32 makes sense - clearly on Golfs produced after week 48/2020, these pins were re-assigned to the reverse lights (as massimo23 said)! When you were playing with the 3 x BCM sockets, did you notice if pins B61 and B35 had wires connected? Also, were C61 and C35 terminated with wires?
If I had the wiring diagram for this car, I could investigate further - but i don't (alas). Did you get any error messages after you tried the 2 x alternative pin terminations with the suggested coding changes? Don

hi, I didn't receive any type of error coding C61 and C35 while the coding on B20 and B32 was not accepted. Other electrical cables are already present on pins C61 and C35 (curiosity, these cables are the same color as the VW diagram, i.e. yellow/white and yellow/black). I haven't checked pins B61 and B35... where can I find them? on socket A of the BCM? because socket B (the central one) is 46pin. Thank you
