Hi to all, Octavia combi 2013, basic halogen lights (H7 & H15) and basic light switch (no auto), NO light sensor, NO front fog lamps. I was playing with obd11 so I can have CH/LH option enabled. In that play I somehave loose DRL.. Now CH works manual, with flasher lever before opening door and that is ok. But there is no DRL in 0-position of light switch, and before they were working. I tried many options (DRL and Leuchte4&5 TFL) found on forum but no luck so far. I would appriciate any help, thanks. Toni current settings

The screen below is from a Golf mk7, but it shares the same MQB platform as your car.
Ignore "Aussenlicht_Front" in my picture, the correct equivalent is "Daytime running lights" on your car - as per the last picture on your post.
Go to Fahrlicht bie Tag and change value from "Option 3" to "Option 2" (labelled "Normal" in my picture).

Hi dv52, I tried that few times but nothing changes. I even tried new H15 bulbs but the old ones are ok.
Only option 4 works with low beam, but I don't want that.

tonicrogs : OK - I note that your second picture shows the setting for Daytime Running Lights- Tagfahrlicht Aktivierung durch BAP oder Bedienfolge möglich = active. This means that there must be a software switch in the MENU that enables/disables the DRL function. It looks like this on a Golf mk7: Is DRL enabled in the MENU with my suggested tweak?
If so, with my suggested change, do you get any errors on the scan report? Don

dv52 thanks for your effort Yes, DRL is enabled in menu. I did new scan yesterday and interesting and confusing thing is, NO errors. I don't know what happened but I can't make them work normally with any combination. When I tried actuator option they are working, which means bulbs and signal are OK or..? Can it be light switch? On the other hand, other lights positions working normally. I had DRL on ''0'' and now is completlly OFF.

tonicrogs: check the settings in your pictures above and look at the changes you made in the History part of OBD1. Again, are there any errors in your scan report? Don

Hoping to fix the thing, I’ve made a lot of changes and combinations that I don’t even know where to look and what to look for. Obviously I made a mess As far as I remember, there was one error when I disconnected the light switch. I canceled that. I will try to find something more in history.

Maybe I’m stupid, whatever I try doesn’t work. It is not clear to me what happened, when I tried the CH / LH options then the DRLs disappeared. And that's it, as if they didn't even exist. After the disappearance, I changed the various settings I found on the forum, but without success.
Does anyone have the same car with the same lights to send me the settings?

tonicrogs : Try this (together with my first suggestion above): - Leuchte4TFL LB4-Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC 4 > 49
- Leuchte5 TFL RB32-Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC 5 > 4B

1630064812811_history.txt (923.63 KB) dv52: I tried your suggestion, and I am very grateful, but again there is no DRL. I tried some other tweaks as well. Then DRL bulbs work, for example, your tweak from another forum "Front DRLs - flash with lock / unlock". I even added to that the H4 and H5 channel "Innenlicht", it works like CH / LH with interior lights. Why doesn't the DRL work on its own? It is not clear to me what trigers them. I also tried on different channels, eg TFL4: Tagfahrlicht - A, C, E and again nothing. Here is complete history, DRL disappeared on 07/19/2021.

tonicrogs : hmm....According to your records, the changes that were made to the hex09 module on 07/19/2021 were about the installation of a new rotary-light-switch with an AUTO position (related, I suspect to the installation of a new RAIN LIGHT sensor on the day after - I think). Odd thing is that I can't find any records related to coding for the RLS. Strange - it almost looks like you installed one of those cheap Chinese rotary light switches with the light sensor that piggy-backs onto the rear of the unit!! I'm not sure what new equipment you installed on the day, but it may well be the cause of your DRL problem- maybe? Are you certain that the correct gear was installed for the car on the day? Maybe if you still have the old rotary-light-switch, perhaps re-install it (it's an easy try) and check if the DRLs work. You will generate lots of errors, but they can be cleared when you re-install the new switch. Don

dv52: I didn't install anything new. The lights and switch are original. I pulled the switch out just to see if it would reset DRL, but no luck. I only did everything through OBD11.

^^^^^ hmmm............. here's an extract from your 1630081331439_history.txt for your stated date when the DRL disappeared --------------------------------------------------------------- Long coding Control unit: 09 Central Electrics Old value: 0C0008424247025307A04000080407080000000000000000000000000000 New value: 0C0008424247027307A04000080407080000000000000000000000000000 Mileage: 129758 km Date: 2021-07-19 21:21 --------------------------------------------------------------- Long coding Control unit: 09 Central Electrics Old value: 0C0008424247005307A04000080407080000000000000000000000000000 New value: 0C0008424247025307A04000080407080000000000000000000000000000 Mileage: 129758 km Date: 2021-07-19 21:21 ---------------------------------------------------------------

Now- remember that Binary numbers are read from right-to-left so Bit 0 is the right most digit and Bit 7 is the left-most digit
The table above shows that: - Byte 07, Bit 5 was set (original value was 0)
- Byte 06, Bit 1 was set (original value was 0)
The change to Byte 07 tells the hex09 module that the rotary light switch has an AUTO position The change to Byte 06 tells the hex09 module that the car has a RLS (which is LIN connected)

dont have a octavia but with regards to long coding changes have you made any other changes or used any apps. if you go to control unit 09 select history select filter (upside down triangle) and clear all except long coding Scroll down till your first entry and that will show you your factory setting. may i ask why you think the drl went on that specific date
i presume you have not done a full backup before you started coding

Yes, I used apps for CH/LH and adaptation for CH/LH. I had DRL to that date, but after CH/LH play I loose DRL. Wich I saw aftrenoon that day. Then I start to search more on forums and play with adaptation for DRL and Leuchte 4TFL / 5TFL. But what ever combination I set, DRL on ''0'' position is dead. I have not done full backup before because I was smart and now I am stupid Oldest (09) long code I can see is from 2019 and it is the same as now. If I disconect battery, would that help ?

As you have used apps would you be so kind as to go to your main MY CAR menu and select history Filter on APPS and post up all the apps you have used please.

Well I am confused, I suspect its because there have been so many changes things have got in a mess.
One of the reasons I am confused just looking at the apps you have used
Name: DRL Activation/Deactivation on the 08/09 the old value was Via Position light on the 12/08 the old value was Via Position light but on the 09/08 the old value was Via Position light I cant see any app usage in between where you switched it back from Via Headlight to Via Position light.
Same applies with DRL with Turn signal, it worked from Off to DIMM, Then from DIMM To ON then it shows Original to ON..
App Name: DRL with Turn signal Old value: Original New value: ON Mileage: 131363 km Date: 2021-09-08 15:44
--------------------------------------------------------------- App Name: DRL with Turn signal Old value: DIMM New value: ON Mileage: 129951 km Date: 2021-07-22 11:43
--------------------------------------------------------------- App Name: DRL with Turn signal Old value: OFF New value: DIMM Mileage: 96462 km Date: 2019-05-02 20:12
---------------------------------------------------------------
The app I was interested in was the DRLs OFF when Light Switch on 0 but according to your records it was reset back to how it was at the start
App Name: DRLs OFF when Light Switch on 0 Old value: ON New value: OFF Mileage: 130699 km Date: 2021-08-05 20:53
--------------------------------------------------------------- App Name: DRLs OFF when Light Switch on 0 Old value: OFF New value: ON Mileage: 130699 km Date: 2021-08-05 20:46
Have you buy any change made changes using a different account or other tool (vcds)

I have just one OBD11 account and no other tools. One guy in my city have Carista, and he just turned on DRL on 4. option (low beam+rear) but I returned that because it is not real DRL. That is the only other tool and adaptation beside my OBD11. I tried position 2 and 3 as well but DRL stays OFF.
Could apps be changed by adaptations and coding I was doing after ?
BTW those DIMM apps never worked on my car.

Simple answer is the apps are expecting your car control unit to be in a certain state.
If its not the app wont work will give an error, if it is then it will update the coding.
If you then manually change the settings afterwards then you will get what i am seeing from the apps along with the Carista changes.
I dont know if i can help solve this as I dont have your car but if you post up a full history file (but exclude the Backup / full backup) and I will have a look through to see if I can work out what you need to change back to make it work.
Wont be quick but happy to give it a go.
