No secret source was required to stop the start stop (SS) from triggering in. Reading around the subject the 12 volt one is now the preferred method as the amp one is less available on VW engines recently.
I took the command from the top pinned list for the Golf Mk7

Disable Start/Stop
Select Control unit 19
Adaptation
Start Stop Limit voltage
Value=12
Made a note of what the previous voltage was for record, made the change and perfect. It doesn't throw up any annoying screens and no more damming and swearing with the DSG at turns and roundabouts as you forget to turn it off when you set off. 190 DSG we are talking about.
No apps were involved. Easy to do.
