So I tried the mirror dip on reverse app for 10 credits. I enabled the function to ON.
In the car setting menu, I enabled 'lowering in reverse'. I put the mirror switch to R then I shifted into reverse. Nothing happens....
I also tried having the ignition ON and OFF and still does nothing.

Any thoughts?!

Have you done the “training” aspect already? You put it in reverse, put mirror switch to R, then adjust mirror to where you want it. Then you can go back to D and it should go back to where it was.

Yup did that. It does nothing. Apparently I'm told the mirrors need to have a memory function in order to work. My car does not have the folding mirrors.

Lord: Not all mk7.5s are created equal - as I suspect that you know.
A really important question for this tweak is: do the mirrors on your car have the required memory modules to store the co-ordinates for the mirror positions on the return function? Might be prudent doing the test below to confirm whether the memory modules are installed (apology for the old software on the screenshots, but it's exactly the same process with the current OBD11 version SW): Don
Note: the X/Y coordinate values can be different (this depends on where the mirrors are positioned), but they can't be 255% if the memory module is installed

Hi Don, I checked and my car does not have a memory module. I guess I'm SOL.

It should still dip. But it won’t likely return to the correct position without the right hardware.
When I first got into tinkering with coding, I coded my 16 GTI for mirror dip in reverse. It dipped but wouldn’t return to the correct position. Later I installed power folding mirrors, and the mirror returns to the correct position now.
Shot in the dark, but have you tried resetting the mirror settings to defaults, and then enabling the dip again?

I understand however if it doesn't remember the previous position I don't see a point to it.

I understand however if it doesn't remember the previous position I don't see a point to it. And that’s one of the reasons why I bought the power folding mirrors. And I agree, if it doesn’t return to the correct position, there’s no point.

I know this is an old thread but I’d like to contribute. Like the saying goes, not all GTIs are made equals, even in the same trim. I have a 2020 NAR MK7.5 GTI and I wanted so bad to have the mirror dip functionality. I tried getting it enabled so many times, I did and re-did the configs over and over, in different ways, different sequence, rechecked everything, but it never worked. My car does have the high line, 5xx modules, in both doors: - 5Q4959593K (driver)
- 5Q4959592K (passenger)
I also checked the passenger module for the mirror memory, the Live Data confirms it’s there, so I don’t think it’s the module’s fault. Sometimes when I enable it, the right side mirror would just stop working completely, and only return to work when I disable the mirror dip/memory function. After fiddling with the Basic Output test, I got a fault: Mirror position sensor malfunction. So, adding this faint clue, with people saying that you need the folding mirror for it to work, seems not all basic mirrors have all the hardware needed for the mirror dip, it’s not just the right module that is needed. I’ll start scouting the net for a second hand OEM folding mirror, or I might get one from our friends at Ali, but I got a strong hunch that in my case, a higher trim mirror is needed.
