I tried coding my turn signals on with drls but I was unable to with the OBD11 app. I set them to Dimm and ON and it made no changes. Has anyone done this?

alan: hi. how did you "set them to Dimm and ON" (what changes did you actually make)?
Second question: does a 2017 Audi S3 in whatever country you are from have LED turn signal lamps (I don't suggest that you try your tweak with incandescent lamps because the lamp base will over-heat and melt)?

Don I set it to dimm and it made no difference. Same happened with ON. I changed these setting using the “apps” I have led turn signals and led DRLs.

Alan, alas I still have no understanding what "I set it to dimm" means - simply repeating the same words again doesn't help in eliciting an informed suggestion from others.
Anyhow, thanks for the dialogue -perhaps someone else here can assist you (we have some very bright colleagues here)!

Hi Alan, I understand what you're on about.
I've got an AU 2017 S3 also, and had also tried the changes you're talking about but it didn't make any difference.
I haven't tried with the bonnet up, but that shouldn't be necessary anyway for our model, that's only for 2019 from what I can gather.
Cheers.

19 RS3 with matrix headlights here - setting to DIMM and ON did nothing for me either unfortunatly. Anyone know if this can be coded manually on the PRO version?

Same here, on my 17 S3
What I don't understand is that at night, the DRL's stay on with the turn signals, yet during the day they turn completely off when activation the turn signals.
I tried going through the OBD 11 apps and changing the DRL setting to "ON" and "DIMM" yet still nothing.

So, here's the thing about this entire matter of DRLs - it really does depend on how your car is equipped, but likely it will have Light Control Modules (LCMs) at address D7 and D6 on the CAN Network. These will have module names that are reported by OBD11 as: - D7 LED Module Right
- D6 LED Module Left
If this is the case, it means that headlight fitting functions like lamp illumination level, and DRL wink will be controlled by the LCMs, rather than the central electrics module. When this happens, the tell is that the Leuchte-sets that normally control these lamps in the hex09 module are disabled at the factory (which means that the wires from the headlight fittings are NOT terminated on the sockets on the central electric module)
If (as I suspect) the DRLs on your car are controlled by LCMs- forget about these changes: OBD11 can't be used to alter anything in the hexD7 & hexD6 module, alas!!
As for your comment: "What I don't understand is that at night, the DRL's stay on with the turn signals, yet during the day they turn completely off when activation the turn signals."
This is easily explained by remembering that a Leuchte-set can be programmed to operate up to 8 x different light functions and each of the car's 35 x exterior lamps has its own Leuchte-set. The DRL lamp can operate in one-or-more of the following light functions:
- DRL (during daytime conditions)
- DRL Wink (when the turn-signal is operated on one side of the car)
- Parking Light (when the rotary light switch is turned to low-beam, or PL position)
- Single Side Parking Light (when the ignition is turned-OFF and the turn-signal stalk is left in left/right position)
- Coming home/Leaving Home function
So, it's not surprising that the controlling module can be asked to operate the DRL lamp with more than one light function at the same time. In programming speak, this is called a "conflict". For example, when you turn-on the Parking light on the rotary light switch and you also then operate the turn signal - how does the module resolve this conflict for the DRL lamp?
Well.... the way that Leuchte-programming handles this conflict is by assigning each light function a priority. Then, when more than one light function wants to illuminate a lamp at the same time (say - DRL Wink and Parking Light), the light function with the highest priority wins!!
On your car, the relevant light function priorities are : DRL priority is lower than DRL Wink priority which is lower than Parking light priority!!
So- during daylight hours, DRL Wink will win the conflict when the turn-signal is operated and at night-time when the turn-signal is operated, Parking Light will win the conflict. Hope you follow the logic

Thank you very much for your response. So really the only way to make this happen on my car is that I would need to alter the wiring, correct?

hmm.... basically - yes - but the modification is not a trivial task
