Needle sweep is only possible from modelyear 2011 and newer. Then do 1) Select Cu 17 2) Adaptation 3) Channel 36 4) Change value from 1100 to 1110

Howdy all,
Just wanted to chime in here and say that you need a specific cluster that supports the needle sweep, lap timer, and shift light from the newer A3 (some 2011 and 2012 support it) or do a swap to the S3 or RS3 cluster with the unlocked eeprom which is a whole can of worms on its own.
mrle9 on cartechnology.com got it to work with these part numbers and a little bit of fenageling:
A3 Dashboard (8P) (Dash with eeprom 24c32 and Micronas CDC3217G) : 8p0920931 8p0920932 8p0920901 8p0920983 (UK)
TT Dashboard (8J) : 8J0920981 (UK)
Currently in the process of acquiring the icprogrammer and a spare chip, will keep everyone posted with results.
Not sure how this forum handles external links, but a quick google search should bring up his page or PM me and ill pass the link along.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi.. I have the 8p on 62 plate . Had lap timer boost gauge ect.
Have got the following instrument cluster. 8p0920983G
I had repairs done on my car (clutch change) Picked it up from the mechanic
Now it doesn't have any of the lap timer ect on display.
Mechanic has said the removal off battery has reset the eeprom. Could this be true.. from what Ive been told from other people it should still be on there regardless off battery removal.
Does it sound like he has swapped all my ic data eeprom 24c32 and Micronas CDC3217G) : from one car to another (for his own gain)
I can't activate anything through coding on vcds.
Isit possible you could confirm please. Also could you send me the external link if possible.
Thanks much appreciated. Reece
