Hello, Have a question about some new lights that I bought and fitted. They are the following supernovalighting.com.au/shop/car-leds/headlights-tail-lights/vw-golf-mk7-5-style-sequential-projector-headlight-for-mk7-0-golf-2014-2017-pair/So I noticed a couple days ago that the driver side DRL was very dim, on, but very dim (tested in dark garage). The passenger side is completely fine and even does what I want it to in terms of being on with low beams etc etc. in a last ditch effort to diagnose I removed the drivers side light and plugged it into the passenger side plug with the same result, very dim. Dim as in, when I set the passenger side DRL dimmwert to 1, the drivers side is not as bright, but still on. Additionally, I’m not sure if the sequential indicators run off the same LEDs but they work perfectly on both sides. I wouldn’t imagine this sounds like a coding issue but 1. I’m very new to obd and VW and 2. I recall reading something about parking light control being on the left light (or something similar to a control being only on one side) Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance Patrick

Patrick: hi
Interesting problem - but difficult to be too specific as to the cause because third party retrofit assemblies vary so greatly. I assume that the fittings use factory settings in the module @ address hex09 - as per your link.
Can you post-up a copy of the Leuchte-sets for the DRLs so we can see how they are coded?
Don

Don Hey Don, Thanks for you quick reply so late (if I understand from reading your many replies throughout the many forums, you’re in Australia) Back to your question, I’m not 100% on the “address hex9” query but if it answers your question these lights were complete plug and play with no coding required, I only utilised the obd to enable the fancy DRLs when low beams are on and it was working for at least a couple weeks which is why I’m leaning more towards a faulty unit. In any case, being that it’s so late I will endeavour to copy the settings out of leuchte4 TFL LB4 and leuchte5 TFL RB32 tomorrow and post them up. Hoping they will be of some value. Presently I have both dimmwert for Tagfahrlicht and both Parklicht links and rechts set to 0 so the DRLs are not active in any state. Will post up complete settings ASAP. Thanks again Don

Don Hey Don, Good news! My headlight supplier rang me today and told me they had talked to the manufacturer and it sounds like a led module fault so they are going to send me a new unit straight away without me having to send mine back yet so happy with that. Hope I didn’t waste too much of your time but your help is greatly appreciated in any case. Cheers Don

^^^ Your headlight supplier might be one of those rare companies that believes in customer service, but I'm sufficiently dubious to believe that the supplier knows that there is a type fault with those fittings!!
But good news nevertheless (and no time wasted - just things learnt)

Thanks again
