Howdy,
Just bough the OBDeleven Pro. Great little device. The local VW dealer told me there was a quick question. The local VW dealer told me there was a Fault Recorded of "Turbo/Super charger over boost condition" So I bought the OBDeleven to check on them. The OBDeleven says there are No Error Codes recorded.
My question is …..Is the OBDeleven sophisticated enough that it would find those type of faults? It is only scanning 11 systems...does that seem right? Mine is a 2008 VW T5 Transporter 2.5TDI 128kw (bog standard)
No, I don't trust the VW dealer... they tried to tell me I need to replace my Turbo, Diesel Particulate Filter and all associated parts at a cost of some $7000. And I only went in there to find out what the popping sound was coming through the intake pipe, occasional knocking from same location with corresponding minor loss of power and rough running - it fixes itself most of the time when I just plant the foot..... so I was thinking Injector. So imagine my surprise when VW told me the above.
I'm hoping the OBDeleven is correct when it found No Faults with turbo.
Please help..... not much choice of dealer up here...stuck with VW unless I can tell THEM that it's not the turbo or DPF...oh I checked Live Date.... DPF and Turbo readings all within normal range!

With the amount they are asking for repairs I'd consider traveling to an independent VW specialist to see if they agree with the stealers.
From my usage OBD11 has been good at identifying my DTC's on my T6. You could see if anyone has a VCDS in your area, that way you can confirm if OBD11 is accurate and backup your suspicions.
11 systems sounds about right, unless you have loads of optional extras.
