So from what I understand (which isn't a ton) basically all the long coding you might do on obdeleven is what people usually buy VCDS for. I was looking at doing a dash mod on my golf and it has some of the instructions of course say "hey make these changes in vcds". Should I be able to 100% confidently say that i can convert the commands shown there to odb11? Or are there times when you run into a "shoot need an actual vcds cable for this" situation.

I’d say long codings/adaptions are the same, I think (not 100% sure) vcds is more towards a garage use

VCDS Is the Gold Standard for VAG Cars
OBD11 is Silver and others like caristaapp are Bronze.
There is a lot that you can do using OBD11 and we all convert VCDS Coding to make those changes.
However you can do more using VCDS than obd11 so the only way for somebody to answer your question is raise it in the relevant car section with the VCDS coding and ask if you can do that using OBD11..
Sorry its not a simple yes or no answer but its the coding that will tell you what you can or cant do using obd11.

I guess in my situation I could just see if I can pull everything up in odb11 that I see in the guide I'm reading. So the answer seems like kind of what I was thinking, you should be fine, but not 100% everything can be done in obd11.

Bought the OBDeleven to code an ABS module for a 2003 Allroad. Finding it very difficult as it goes through the entire process, but never actually codes the module. Looking for any help I can get it anyone is familiar with these.
